Hey guys!
Welcome back to another Top 10 Tuesday weekly fun on my blog! Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created at The Broke and the Bookish. If you want to join in the fun, hop on over to their blog to see what it’s all about!
This week’s topic is Top 10 Characters That Got on my Nerves.
*** THIS IS MY OPINION:Β DO NOT HATE ON ME FOR IT ***
So we have all read books where we didn’t like or could really care less for a certain character. A lot of the times it happens to be the main character or active love interest. And now by no means am I saying that the author who wrote them is garbage because some of these characters come from some of my favorite books, what I am saying is that I honestly did not like them. So let the haters gonna hate begin!
10.Β Myles from Storm Siren
Reasons Why:
- He was beyond creepy
- Could never tell if he was good or bad
9.Β Eleanor from Eleanor and Park
Reasons Why:
- She whined too much
- No major character growth
8. Mare from The Red Queen
Reasons Why:
- Thought she was the Queen of the world
- Played up her Special Snowflake status constantly
7. Clary from the City of Bones
Reasons Why:
- Boring and dull
- Couldn’t see why everyone loved her in the book
6. Cinder from Cinder
Reasons Why:
- Again boring and dull
- No extraordinary character growth
5. Lorelai from The Shadow Queen
Reasons Why:
- Not likeable
- Generic and boring
4. IantheΒ from A Court ofΒ Mist and Fury
Reasons Why:
- Professional manipulator
- Two-faced!
3. Lucia from Falling Kingdoms
Reasons Why:
- Generic and boring
- Not likeable
2. Chaol from Throne of Glass
Reasons Why:
- Snoozefest
- Lacks depth
1. Mal from Shadow and Bone
Reasons Why:
- SO BORING
- Everything he did got on my nerves
.
Well there you have it!Β Top 10 Characters That Got on my Nerves.Β What characters got on your nerves? Do we share any similarities?Β Let me know!
Until next time,
I liked Chaol up until Queen of Shadows – he grated my goat after that! The rest of these that I know I actually quite liked!!

FIGHT ME! Ok, not really XD I love Clary but I totally get where you’re coming from. She is a really bland character to be honest. And Mare… I just can’t deal with her, she’s got a superiority complex the size of the world.

OMG. She thinks she is a God. I can’t wait for her to get a reality check.

Just imagining Simon slapping her and going like “Get a grip, girl”

I hated Lucia so much. I only read Throne of Glass from the series, but I was not a Chaol fan.

I still somewhat don’t like her. I don’t know what it is. And as for Chaol… he doesn’t get any better xD

I wouldn’t say that Eleanor got on my nerves, but I definitely liked Park as a character more than her. I think he had more dimension and depth to his personality. Great list! π

If I had room on my list Park would have made it too. Although he was way more tolerable then Eleanor… he still got on my nerves! π

Love this !!! Oh and Dorian is way better than Chaol π

I love Dorian… I have since the first book. Chaol needs to jump off a cliff or something.

I COMPLETELY agree with you about Mal! He’s such a boring character.

I don’t know how he got to be a main love interest for Alina >.<

Seriously! I’d say Nikolai got the shaft, but I don’t know that I think Alina necessarily deserves him…

Yeah I didn’t really ship her with anyone. She isn’t that great of a heroine to be honest. Nikolai should just get his own series where he is the main protagonist. XD

AGREED.

I definitely agree with you about Eleanor. I couldn’t connect with her at all and just found her annoying. I never cared for Myles but I like how his ARC ended. He pissed me off to the max in Siren’s Fury with the way he was influencing Nym but overall I just didn’t care.

I thought his end could have been done better… I feel like there was more story to be told on his part!

Such a genius idea for a topic! π *High five* for Bone Marrow! If I had to add some characters, I would say Miranda from So Much More and I can’t remember her name from The Trouble with Destiny.

You’re probably right about that. They can’t all be awesome. But it’s the REALLY irritating ones that always stand out.

And it usually tends to be main characters for me π

So this is totally on another random subject, but (gasp!) I’m reading a Fantasy right now! I love it so far and think you should read it. It’s called The Bird and the Sword by Amy Harmon. Has that one made it on your radar yet? It came out recently. I love her writing. It’s her first Fantasy book.

Just looked it up! It sounds quite interesting.
“Swallow, Daughter, pull them in, those words that sit upon your lips. Lock them deep inside your soul, hide them βtil theyβve time to grow. Close your mouth upon the power, curse not, cure not, βtil the hour. You wonβt speak and you wonβt tell, you wonβt call on heavβn or hell. You will learn and you will thrive. Silence, Daughter. Stay alive.”
That part alone can sell the book π

Eleanor annoyed me too, I actually didn’t really enjoy Eleanor and Park as much as everyone else. I had seen so many 5 star reviews and it fell flat for me!

Thank god I’m not the only one. It was quite an uninteresting book to me. I didn’t see the appeal after reading it π

I must admit that Rainbow Rowell seems to be a difficult author for me, I didn’t really fall in love with Fangirl either which is so loved. It was about a 3/3.5 star read for me, I tried landline too. I wish I could experience the love for it like everyone else but it just doesn’t work for me haha!

Sometimes you just don’t like what others do. I tend to have varying opinions with a lot of popular books π

I really didn’t like Eleanor either … I thought I was the only one! Cinder was just eh for me while reading the series because she was surrounded by much more dynamic characters! And I haven’t really formed an opinion of Chaol yet because I’ve only read the first book in the series. I really don’t mind Mare though. There’s something about her that I get. But great idea for a post!

I agree with the Cinder comment. Pretty much every other character in the book is more interesting then her. π
Read on and find out how annoying Chaol becomes!
And Mare is so insufferable, I don’t think I can continue with the series π

I’m reading Crown of Midnight really soon! (But I’m already leaning towards Dorian)
And I’m about halfway through Glass Sword and still like Mare up to this point so I guess I’ll see what happens with her.

I’m hoping she gets a reality check. She thinks too highly of herself π

Haha yeah she kinda does. But shit, I wouldn’t want to run afoul of her!

When I saw the title of this post I was crossing my fingers that Mare was included. I positively couldn’t stand her! I don’t even know how I made it through TWO books with her as the main character… π

I totally agree with you. She wasn’t so bad in Red Queen, but in Glass Sword she was completely insufferable. I don’t think I can continue on in the series now >.<
