November 2016 Releases

ANTICIPATED RELEASES

Hey guys!

Every month I post the books that I’m most excited about that are going to be released. For November I’m bringing you five exciting releases. Let’s check them out:

A Million Worlds With You by Claudia Gray

Release Date: November 1st, 2016

A Million Worlds With YouA million universes. A million dangers. One destiny.

The fate of the multiverse rests in Marguerite Caine’s hands. Marguerite has been at the center of a cross-dimensional feud since she first traveled to another universe using her parents’ invention, the Firebird. Only now has she learned the true plans of the evil Triad Corporation—and that those plans could spell doom for dozens or hundreds of universes, each facing total annihilation.

Paul Markov has always been at Marguerite’s side, but Triad’s last attack has left him a changed man—angry and shadowed by tragedy. He struggles to overcome the damage done to him, but despite Marguerite’s efforts to help, Paul may never be the same again.

So it’s up to Marguerite alone to stop the destruction of the multiverse. Billions of lives are at stake. The risks have never been higher. And Triad has unleashed its ultimate weapon: another dimension’s Marguerite—wicked, psychologically twisted, and always one step ahead.

The Sun is Also a Star by Nicola Yoon

Release Date: November 1st, 2016

The Sun is Also a StarNatasha: I’m a girl who believes in science and facts. Not fate. Not destiny. Or dreams that will never come true. I’m definitely not the kind of girl who meets a cute boy on a crowded New York City street and falls in love with him. Not when my family is twelve hours away from being deported to Jamaica. Falling in love with him won’t be my story.

Daniel: I’ve always been the good son, the good student, living up to my parents’ high expectations. Never the poet. Or the dreamer. But when I see her, I forget about all that. Something about Natasha makes me think that fate has something much more extraordinary in store—for both of us.

The Universe: Every moment in our lives has brought us to this single moment. A million futures lie before us. Which one will come true?

The Diabolic by S.J. Kincaid

Release Date: November 1st, 2016

The DiabolicA Diabolic is ruthless. A Diabolic is powerful. A Diabolic has a single task: Kill in order to protect the person you’ve been created for.

Nemesis is a Diabolic, a humanoid teenager created to protect a galactic senator’s daughter, Sidonia. The two have grown up side by side, but are in no way sisters. Nemesis is expected to give her life for Sidonia, and she would do so gladly. She would also take as many lives as necessary to keep Sidonia safe.

When the power-mad Emperor learns Sidonia’s father is participating in a rebellion, he summons Sidonia to the Galactic court. She is to serve as a hostage. Now, there is only one way for Nemesis to protect Sidonia. She must become her. Nemesis travels to the court disguised as Sidonia—a killing machine masquerading in a world of corrupt politicians and two-faced senators’ children. It’s a nest of vipers with threats on every side, but Nemesis must keep her true abilities a secret or risk everything.

As the Empire begins to fracture and rebellion looms closer, Nemesis learns there is something more to her than just deadly force. She finds a humanity truer than what she encounters from most humans. Amidst all the danger, action, and intrigue, her humanity just might be the thing that saves her life—and the empire.

Heartless by Marissa Meyer

Release Date: November 8th, 2016

HeartlessLong before she was the terror of Wonderland — the infamous Queen of Hearts — she was just a girl who wanted to fall in love.

Catherine may be one of the most desired girls in Wonderland, and a favorite of the yet-unmarried King of Hearts, but her interests lie elsewhere. A talented baker, all she wants is to open a shop with her best friend and supply the Kingdom of Hearts with delectable pastries and confections. But according to her mother, such a goal is unthinkable for the young woman who could be the next Queen.

At a royal ball where Cath is expected to receive the king’s marriage proposal, she meets Jest, the handsome and mysterious court joker. For the first time, she feels the pull of true attraction. At the risk of offending the King and infuriating her parents, she and Jest enter into an intense, secret courtship.

Cath is determined to define her own destiny and fall in love on her terms. But in a land thriving with magic, madness, and monsters, fate has other plans.

Fate of Flames by Sarah Raughley

Release Date: November 22nd, 2016

Fate of FlamesFour girls with the power to control the elements and save the world from a terrible evil must come together in the first epic novel in a brand-new series.

When Phantoms—massive beasts made from nightmares and darkness—suddenly appeared and began terrorizing the world, four girls, the Effigies, each gained a unique power to control one of the classical elements: earth, air, fire, and water. Since then, four girls across the world have continually fought against the Phantoms, fulfilling their cosmic duty. And when one Effigy dies, another girl gains her power as a replacement.

But now, with technologies in place to protect the world’s major cities from Phantom attacks, the Effigies have stopped defending humanity and, instead, have become international celebrities, with their heroic feats ranked, televised, and talked about in online fandoms.

Until the day that New York City’s protection against the Phantoms fails, a man seems to be able to control them by sheer force of will, and Maia, a high school student, unexpectedly becomes the Fire Effigy.

Now Maia has been thrown into battle with three girls who want nothing to do with one another. But with the first human villain that the girls have ever faced, and an army of Phantoms preparing for attack, there isn’t much time for the Effigies to learn how to work together.

Can the girls take control of their destinies before the world is destroyed forever?

Scythe by Neal Shusterman

Release Date: November 22nd, 2016

ScytheIn a world where disease has been eliminated, the only way to die is to be randomly killed (“gleaned”) by professional reapers (“scythes”). Citra and Rowan are teenagers who have been selected to be scythe’s apprentices, and—despite wanting nothing to do with the vocation—they must learn the art of killing and come to understand the necessity of what they do.

Only one of them will be chosen as a scythe’s apprentice. And when it becomes clear that the winning apprentice’s first task will be to glean the loser, Citra and Rowan are pitted against one another in a fight for their lives.

9. Three Dark Crowns by Kendare Blake

Release Date: September 20th, 2016

23207027Every generation on the island of Fennbirn, a set of triplets is born: three queens, all equal heirs to the crown and each possessor of a coveted magic. Mirabella is a fierce elemental, able to spark hungry flames or vicious storms at the snap of her fingers. Katharine is a poisoner, one who can ingest the deadliest poisons without so much as a stomachache. Arsinoe, a naturalist, is said to have the ability to bloom the reddest rose and control the fiercest of lions.

But becoming the Queen Crowned isn’t solely a matter of royal birth. Each sister has to fight for it. And it’s not just a game of win or lose…it’s life or death. The night the sisters turn sixteen, the battle begins. The last queen standing gets the crown.

If only it was that simple. Katharine is unable to tolerate the weakest poison, and Arsinoe, no matter how hard she tries, can’t make even a weed grow. The two queens have been shamefully faking their powers, taking care to keep each other, the island, and their powerful sister Mirabella none the wiser. But with alliances being formed, betrayals taking shape, and ruthless revenge haunting the queens’ every move, one thing is certain: the last queen standing might not be the strongest…but she may be the darkest.

Sorry I Don’t Love Them | Top 10 Tuesday [#29]

TOP-10-TUESDAY-NEW

Hey guys!

Welcome back to another Top 10 Tuesday weekly fun on my blog! Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created at The Broke and the Bookish. If you want to join in the fun, hop on over to their blog to see what it’s all about!

This week’s topic is Top 10 Characters Everyone Loves But I Don’t.

I love having unpopular opinions. It makes me unique and sets me apart from other book lovers! So I apologize if I dislike a character you like. It’s nothing personal… it’s just that they suck. Simple.

10. Peeta from the Hunger Games

Peeta

He was a bore to read. Complete snoozefest.

9. Jace from the Mortal Instruments

Jace

Hot as he may be… he was no Alec/Magnus.

8. Rhys from A Court of Thorns and Roses

Rhys

I couldn’t stand how he treated Feyre. It was so uncomfortable to read.

7. Chaol from Throne of Glass

Chaol again

Whine, whine, whine. That’s all he does!

6. Maven from Red Queen

Maven

For reasons I will not disclose.

5. Day from Legend

Day

No sympathies for him. Don’t see how he was the face of a revolution!

4. Draco from Harry Potter

Draco

He was cruel to my favorite character Hermoine. So it’s obvious where my loyalties lie.

3. Cinder from Lunar Chronicles

Cinder

No emotional attachment to her at all… mediocre character.

2. Alina from Shadow and Bone

ALina

Not my favorite heroine. I wouldn’t have minded if the series only revolved around Nikolai and the Darkling!

1. Celaena from Throne of Glass

Celaena

This is pre-Aelin days. She was a mess.

Well there you have it! Top 10Characters Everyone Loves But I Don’t. Do you agree with my choices? What popular characters do you not like?

Until next time,

Sig New

The Book Love Tag | Books at Dawn

The-Book-Love-Tag2

Hey guys!

I was tagged on Valentine’s Day (today) by Deanna at A Novel Glimpse to do The Book Love Tag! I thought with a couple hours left on this love day, why not throw out a last minute tag. Thanks Deanna!

Your favorite book couple.

My current favorite couple is Darrow and Virginia from the Red Rising Trilogy! I love the dynamic of Reaper and Mustang so much. As much as my heart broke for Eo, I think Darrow finally met his match with Virginia!

Your top 3 book boy/girlfriends.

My current top book boyfriends go to Magnus Damora (FK), Magnus Bane (TMI), and Kaz Brekker (SoC)! Back off if you want to keep your hands ladies… I mean it!

Imagine your favorite book couple. Who would propose, and how? (If there’s already been a proposal: who would be more into organizing the wedding?)

DarrowVirginia

I honestly think Darrow would be the one to propose. He would have his crew fly them out on a mission to an abandoned planet where he would then take her beneath the stars of the galaxy and promise her the universe on one knee.

Unpopular opinions time! Name a popular pairing you can’t stand.

Eleanor and Park

Sorry not sorry… Eleanor and Park. They just did nothing for me. Such a bland pairing!

What’s your favorite and least favorite romance trope?

My favorite romantic trope is the Star-crossed Lovers Trope. Just because who doesn’t love a good Romeo and Juliet story!

My least favorite trope is the Friend to Lover Trope. Not all best friends become lovers ok? So stop it authors. Just stop it!

Do you ship non-canon couples often? Name some if you do.

Oh hey, I guess I do! They deserve some love too don’t ya think?

Finnie (Finnick/Annie) from the Hunger Games Trilogy.

Captain Cress (Captain Thorne/Cress) from the Lunar Chronicles Series.

Wysper (Wylan/Jesper) from Six of Crows.

Your opinion on love triangles. Go!

I don’t mind love triangles to be honest. It all depends on the writing of them. They do make for some interesting drama when it comes down to it. And it keeps you on edge waiting and hoping that your ship is the one that makes it in the end!

Favorite and least favorite love triangle?

KatPeetGal

Favorite Love Triangle goes to ………… Katniss/Peeta/Gale! I wasn’t rooting for anyone in particular. So I was happy in the end with the choice Katniss made!

Twlight

Least Favorite Love Triangle goes to………. Bella/Edward/Jacob. Why? It’s not because I hated the Twilight series (because I don’t… I secretly love it), it’s because Jacob is a useless waste of page space. Bye bye Jacob… don’t come back!

Sometimes romance just isn’t the way to go. Favorite friendship?

HarRonHer

Shocker? Oh please. You seen this one coming! The friendship of Harry/Ron/Hermoine is going down in the history books. There’s no greater friendship!

What’s your favorite scene with your bookish OTP?

SiBaz

That first kiss between Simon & Baz. Do I need to say more?

Uh no I don’t.

Imagine your favorite book couple again. Who’s most excited about Valentine’s Day (either ironically or genuinely)?

DarrowVirginia

To be honest I feel like neither of them would show that they are excited for Valentine’s Day… but secretly I know they will have romantic shit planned for each other. Secret romantics right there!

I hope you had a great Valentine’s Day with the people you love the most, whether it be your partner, parents, friends or family! Just spread some love today y’all!

Until next time,

The BFF Book Tag | Books at Dawn

The-BFF-Book-Tag.gif

Hey guys!

I was tagged by Deanna over at A Novel Glimpse. If you haven’t checked out her blog or are not following her, please do so now! Thanks for the tag!

I can honestly tell you guys that I am the BEST BFF you could ever have. So I thought this tag was quite appropriate for me!

1. Setting the Example: A pair/group of book bff’s that you love?

The Serpent King

I need some friends like Dill, Travis and Lydia in my life. They would literally die for each other, that’s how strong their relationship is. They are so tight knit that only tragedy could break them apart!

2. Childhood Bestie: Which book character would you have like to grown up with?

Siege and Storm

Nikolai would have been a fantastic bestie to grow up with. I would be his wingman, secret keeper, adventure taker, and everything else that comes with being childhood besties! That would be a friendship that lasted!

3. Frenemy: Which book character would bring out your competitive side?

Six of Crows

Wylan would bring out my competitive side for the sheer fact that we are pretty much the same person. Timid, shy, but knows when to pull through and save the day. So because we are so similar I feel like we would go after the same things and would end up being frenemies!

4. Fashion Guru: Who would be the bestie whose closet you’d want to raid or would you want to go on a shopping spree with?

Carry On

Baz obviously. His expensive and fashionable suits would be perfect for me since I have no idea how to buy them or pair them or wear them. I have much to learn from Baz!

5. The Bad Influence: Which character would you want to commit a small act of rebellion with? (go skinny dipping, sneak into a movie, have a drag race with, etc.)

Rebel Spring

Jonas would be the perfect friend to commit little felonies and acts of rebellion with for the fact that he is a rebel and troublemaker already. I just think we would have the best of times!

6. Blood Brothers: Which character would you want to be your surrogate big brother/sister? (You can do both if you want.)

HP and the Philospher's Stone

I wish I was the twin brother of Hermoine! She is just so badass that I think if we were a pair it would be equally as insane. I would make J.K. Rowling rewrite the whole series to include me and how EPIC of a magical team Hermoine and I would be!

7. Mother Hen: Which character would you want to be by your side when you’re having a bad day to cheer you up?

The Five Stages of Andrew Brawley

I would need Andrew to cheer me up on my most terrible days. He can read to me by my bed side and then quietly fall in love with me like he did with Rusty in this book.

8. The Counselor: Which character would you go to for relationship advice (or) confide a secret to?

Cress

I would definitely confide all my secrets to Cress. I think she would be really trustworthy and would keep them to herself. Plus we would have secret slumber parties in her satellite in space… if it didn’t get blown up in book 3! HAHA

9. More than friends: Who would be your book bf/ gf (if you like both genders you can choose one of each, but only one choice per gender!)

The Bane Chronicles

Magnus all the way. I would replace Alec and we would have an eternal love until the day I die… because Magnus is immortal…

Well there you have it! The BFF Tag. Did I choose some great BFF’s or what? Let me know in the comments down below!
