Pokemon GO Book Tag

Hey guys!

I was tagged by the creator of the tag, Aentee from Read at Midnight to do the Pokemon GO Book Tag. Go check her blog. Awesome reviews, content, and graphics!

This craze that has swept the world by storm! Everyone is playing Pokemon GO now. Everywhere you look you will find Pokemon Trainers with their eyes glued to their phones trying to catch their next best Pokemon or battling gyms for the prestige! It’s the best addiction, next to books that you could have! Come and join in.

  • NIL. Link back to Aentee’s blog is appreciated but optional. Feel free to use her graphics. Tag people, don’t tag people, whatever. Just have fun!

TwilightI want to be cool and say Harry Potter or Percy Jackson… but that is not that case. I have been an on and off reader as a kid, but it wasn’t until Twilight came out that I started ravaging books like I do now. So Twilight is the book that I have to say started my love for reading. I mean, who didn’t love Twilight at the time? Don’t lie to yourselves, you’ve all read it at some point!

HP and the Goblet of FireThis is where Harry Potter comes in. I don’t care if it’s barely been 20 years since it has come out. I believe it deserves to be called a classic now. Sadly I have only read the first 4 books in this series… I know you’re judging me now. I was late getting my Hogwarts Letter, what can I say? My favorite so far is Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire! Such an EPIC book from beginning to end!

Red QueenI don’t usually fall off the hype train, but with Red Queen it definitely happened. This book was marketed EVERYWHERE! I couldn’t escape it. So I went out and bought it. I read Red Queen and I enjoyed it. Then a year later Glass Sword came out… and that was the hardest book to get through. Horrible characterization and boring plot. That is the point I jumped off the hype train.

Legacy of KingsI don’t usually get annoyed with book tropes as other readers might. So with Legacy of Kings I didn’t mind it. Legacy of Kings has a love triangle somewhat, there is a war that threatens to destroy an empire, insta-love, the ending leaves you wanting more, strong and smart female protagonist, etc. But guess what? The book is still amazing and everyone should be giving it a chance! Because I said so.

A Game of Thrones-cough cough- The gargantuan series that is A Song of Ice and Fire. First off the shortest book in that series is 761 pages. I haven’t even read a book that large before. Second, George R.R. Martin is super old and he might not even finish the series before he bites the dust. Why start something that won’t get finished? I think I’ll wait and see. (Sorry is that is all morbid and insensitive)

The Serpent KingSo can interpret this category as a book that was so horrifying that I couldn’t sleep at night, or a book that was just so good that I stayed up all night to read it. I will go with the latter and say The Serpent King. Normally I don’t stay up late to read, my sleep is precious to me. BUT with The Serpent King I couldn’t wait, I had to finish it. It was so good!

Falling KingdomsMy ultimate OTP comes from my favorite book series Falling Kingdoms, and it is none other then Magnus and Cleo. They were enemies, turned arranged marriage, turned enemies, turned blossoming love, turned torn apart etc. They have had so many ups and downs it’s hard to keep up, but I love it! My second favorite OTP I just want to add in there is also from Falling Kingdoms, and that is Nic and Ashur. Those boys make my heart flutter and I can’t wait to see how their relationship develops!

Court of FivesA recent read of mine was Court of Fives. Although the plot wasn’t quite clear and it felt more like a build up novel, I loved the character’s and their growth. There is so much potential with this series and I can’t wait to find out what happens next with Jess and Kal. I could not put this book done. It was super face paced with the whole book happening over a span of a week I believe. It was awesome!

Falling KingdomsI know you guys are probably sick of reading about my favorite series, Falling Kingdoms. BUT I can say that I will never get sick of seeing more sequels or spin offs for this series. It is already a 6 book series with a 3 book trilogy spin off. But I am hoping that is not where things end for my little world of Mytica. I NEED MORE! (And look at that German cover… so beautiful!)

Storm SirenI am quite surprised how good the Storm Siren Trilogy was. I really enjoyed the world and story building from this series. The characters were lively, strong willed, and badass. The powers were cool, and the villain was completely evil, not a good bone in his body. I definitely recommend this series to anyone who wants to start out in the fantasy genre!

Empire of StormsNo one can say they haven’t heard of the Throne of Glass series. It’s such a big deal in the YA book community. You either love it or hate, or hate to love it. The hype train is still going with this one as we await Empire of Storms to be released in September. With the way that the story is going, I am still very excited to read this series! I need more sexy angst!

Ravenclaw Book Covers.pngWho doesn’t wish they owned more Harry Potter editions? I sure do! I’m totally going to steal this answer from Aentee because I didn’t even know I could get an exclusive Hogwarts House edition. All 7 books with your favorite Hogwarts House covers. Gimme gimme gimme the Ravenclaw Editions please!

Boy RobotI am super excited for Boy Robot to come out in November. I have been seeing a lot of good buzz around this book. And following the author of Twitter is pretty amazing and entertaining. For those of you who may not have heard of this book please go check it out and Good Reads!

Red RisingNormally I would say Morgan Rhodes… but I want to flip the switch a little bit. I will hands done auto buy anything that Pierce Brown puts out there. I loved the Red Rising series and I am super excited for Iron Gold next year! I even went out and funded his Kickstarter for Red Rising merch. I got a House Mars T-shirt and 3 Red Rising pins and some cool maps. Pierce is going to make me broke!

WarcrossSo far I have only had to wait a year between book releases. So I don’t have to wait too long. But I can say that I am looking forward to Marie Lu’s new series coming out in 2017 titled Warcross. So far there is no cover yet, or a release date for that matter. So I can say that I am highly anticipating this book release!

Well there you have it. The Pokemon GO Book Tag. How obsessed with this game are you? I go out of my way to play daily. I even ride my bike around just to catch Pokemon! That is dedication I tell you! So come and join in on this fun Pokemon Go inspired Tag created by Aentee!

Worst Love Interests | Top 5 Wednesday [#25]

Hey guys!

Welcome back to another Top 5 Wednesday! This fun weekly meme was created by Lainey over at GingerReadsLainey. If you want to join in the fun and be apart of the #T5W … you can find all the details at the GoodReads page.

This week’s topic is Top 5 Worst Love Interests.

Almost every book will have at least one horrible love interest. Whether it be in a love triangle, or a minor dalliance and distraction, there has to be one! For this reason it was a bit tough to narrow it down to just 5. But I chose the ones I absolutely could not stand anymore.

5. Jacob from Twilight

Jacob, why are you even here? Just go away already! Nobody likes you… (except Deanna of course)

4. Jonas from Falling Kingdoms

You are a mere distraction to our dear Princess’ heart. You’re no longer needed. #Cleonus

3. Chaol from Throne of Glass

You whine too much. Man up and move on ok?

2. Morpheus from Splintered

You are just plain creepy.

1. Mal from Shadow and Bone

You put me to sleep with your personality. You were no where near the level of the other suitors!

I hope you enjoyed my Top 5 Wednesday this week. No more with the shitty love interests authors. Please and thank you!

Until next time,

Sig New

The Desert Island Book Tag | Books at Dawn

Hey guys!

I was tagged by the lovely Deanna over at A Novel Glimpse to do The Desert Island Book Tag! As I would rather vacation in a city rather then a beach most of the time, this tag brought back all the fun memories I had of a cruise I took around the Caribbean a couple years back with my friends.

So thanks again Deanna for the tag!

Water: a book you can simply cannot live without.

I now have 2 all time favorite series that I cannot live without! They are none other then Falling Kingdoms by Morgan Rhodes, and Red Rising by Pierce Brown.

Food: a book that is a close second on your favorites list.

If I could have chosen my two favorite fantasies and two of my favorite contemporaries it would be these ones I’ve listed here and for the last question. I cannot live without these four books! Including Simon Vs. The Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli and The Five Stages of Andrew Brawley by Shaun David Hutchinson!

Shelter: a book that makes you feel at home and safe.

The Outsiders

I’ll always have a soft spot for The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton. This book brings back so many childhood memories involving reading!

Flare gun: a book you would recommend to a person that doesn’t read.

The Serpent King

The Serpent King by Jeff Zentner has a lot to offer, and I think non-readers would enjoy this one just as much as I did!

Fire-matches: a book that warms your heart.

Everything, Everything

Everything, Everything by Nicola Yoon was such a heartwarming and cute adventure of a girl discovering the world for the first time!

Compass: a book that directed you towards your love of reading.

I’m not going to lie and say Harry Potter like everyone else in my generation because I’m not ashamed to say Twilight by Stephenie Meyer ignited my love for reading! I zoomed through all four books and have not looked back since!

That’s that. Now if I was really stuck on a deserted island I would not be thinking about books. I’d be freaking out about where I’m going to get clean underwear! (I know… priorities).

The Book Love Tag | Books at Dawn

Hey guys!

I was tagged on Valentine’s Day (today) by Deanna at A Novel Glimpse to do The Book Love Tag! I thought with a couple hours left on this love day, why not throw out a last minute tag. Thanks Deanna!

Your favorite book couple.

My current favorite couple is Darrow and Virginia from the Red Rising Trilogy! I love the dynamic of Reaper and Mustang so much. As much as my heart broke for Eo, I think Darrow finally met his match with Virginia!

Your top 3 book boy/girlfriends.

My current top book boyfriends go to Magnus Damora (FK), Magnus Bane (TMI), and Kaz Brekker (SoC)! Back off if you want to keep your hands ladies… I mean it!

Imagine your favorite book couple. Who would propose, and how? (If there’s already been a proposal: who would be more into organizing the wedding?)

I honestly think Darrow would be the one to propose. He would have his crew fly them out on a mission to an abandoned planet where he would then take her beneath the stars of the galaxy and promise her the universe on one knee.

Unpopular opinions time! Name a popular pairing you can’t stand.

Eleanor and Park

Sorry not sorry… Eleanor and Park. They just did nothing for me. Such a bland pairing!

What’s your favorite and least favorite romance trope?

My favorite romantic trope is the Star-crossed Lovers Trope. Just because who doesn’t love a good Romeo and Juliet story!

My least favorite trope is the Friend to Lover Trope. Not all best friends become lovers ok? So stop it authors. Just stop it!

Do you ship non-canon couples often? Name some if you do.

Oh hey, I guess I do! They deserve some love too don’t ya think?

Finnie (Finnick/Annie) from the Hunger Games Trilogy.

Captain Cress (Captain Thorne/Cress) from the Lunar Chronicles Series.

Wysper (Wylan/Jesper) from Six of Crows.

Your opinion on love triangles. Go!

I don’t mind love triangles to be honest. It all depends on the writing of them. They do make for some interesting drama when it comes down to it. And it keeps you on edge waiting and hoping that your ship is the one that makes it in the end!

Favorite and least favorite love triangle?

Favorite Love Triangle goes to ………… Katniss/Peeta/Gale! I wasn’t rooting for anyone in particular. So I was happy in the end with the choice Katniss made!

Least Favorite Love Triangle goes to………. Bella/Edward/Jacob. Why? It’s not because I hated the Twilight series (because I don’t… I secretly love it), it’s because Jacob is a useless waste of page space. Bye bye Jacob… don’t come back!

Sometimes romance just isn’t the way to go. Favorite friendship?

Shocker? Oh please. You seen this one coming! The friendship of Harry/Ron/Hermoine is going down in the history books. There’s no greater friendship!

What’s your favorite scene with your bookish OTP?

That first kiss between Simon & Baz. Do I need to say more?

Uh no I don’t.

Imagine your favorite book couple again. Who’s most excited about Valentine’s Day (either ironically or genuinely)?

To be honest I feel like neither of them would show that they are excited for Valentine’s Day… but secretly I know they will have romantic shit planned for each other. Secret romantics right there!

I hope you had a great Valentine’s Day with the people you love the most, whether it be your partner, parents, friends or family! Just spread some love today y’all!

Until next time,

The Friends Book Tag | Books at Dawn

Hey guys!

I was tagged by Deanna over at A Novel Glimpse to do the Friends Book Tag based off of the very popular 90’s television show. If you don’t know what I am talking about… you must not have been born yet or you live under a rock. Here is a picture to jog your memories!

Do you remember now? Good. Let’s get to it then!

The One Where Eddie Won’t Go – a character I wish would just go away:

Shadow and Bone

Mal just needs to erase himself from this whole series. Could he get any more boring? Tell me I’m not the only one to think like this!

The One Where Ross and Rachel Take A Break – favorite break up scene:

I totally consider _____’s erased memories as a break up. Poor _____ has to pretend to be a stranger to _____ afterward like what they had was never anything special. (To avoid spoilers I used blanks instead of names!)

The One With All The Kissing – a book with lots of kissing:

A Court of Thorns and Roses

There was a whole lot of everything going on in this book. If you know what I mean -winkwink-

The Last One – favorite series finale:

You couldn’t ask for a more perfect ending then this one. Everyone wins in the end!

The One With a Blackout – a scene I’d like to forget:

New Moon

Can I just forget this book ever happened? Talk about a waste of paper. The whole book was a nonsensical filler to the story.

The One Where Chandler Can’t Cry – a book that did not make you as emotional as others:

All the Bright Places

This book is emotional don’t get me wrong. But not an ugly cry book.

The One Where Joey Doesn’t Share Food:- a book you won’t ever lend:

Any of my signed copies of Falling Kingdoms series! NEVER. DON’T TOUCH.

The One With the Thumb – a recent read that you would give two thumbs up to:

More Happy Than Not

Excellent and heart breaking. 4 thumbs up!

The One With the Ick Factor – a book with a pet peeve:

Carry On

One of my biggest LGBT book pet peeves is when a character is dating the opposite sex then miraculously falls for their friend or neighbor or in this case roommate out of thin air. Sorry.

The One With The Lesbian Wedding – favorite LGBTQ book couple:

Simon Vs. The Homo Sapiens Agenda

Simon and Blue, forever those two! ❤

Well there you have it! The Friends Book Tag. Brings back a lot of TV memories as I was going through these questions. Did you guys love the TV show too?

Until next time,

Author Duos That Need to Write a Book Together | Top 10 Tuesday [13]

Top-10-TuesdayHey guys!

Welcome back to another Top 10 Tuesday weekly fun on my blog! Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created at The Broke and the Bookish. If you want to join in the fun, hop on over to their blog to see what it’s all about!

This week’s topic is Top 10 Author Duos That Need to Write a Book Together.

I found this topic to be a real hard one to do. I kind of prefer the books I read to be written by one person. But since this is a long shot from happening in real life I decided to team up authors who write similar genres that could probably come up with EPIC stories together. Let’s see who I’ve paired up!

10. Rainbow Rowell & Sarah Dessen

Rainbow Rowell Sarah DessenThese are some of the queens of contemporary and I feel like together they would be able to write the perfect romance filled with heartbreak and happiness!

9. Leigh Bardugo & Victoria Aveyard

Leigh Bardugo Victoria AveyardThis might be an unpopular one, but since I’m full of unpopular opinions, then why not. They both write great books with cool superpowers. So with Bardugo’s written perfection and Aveyard’s over the top cinematic ideas, I think this duo would be able to write an awesome fantasy series!

8. Suzanne Collins & Marie Lu

Suzanne Collins Marie LuI feel like these ladies are the queens of dystopians. They have widely succesful series’ already under their belts so why not team up and write one together. Only good things could come from both of these authors!

7. Sarah J. Maas & David Dalglish

Sarah J. Maas David DalglishBoth Maas and Dalglish have series with pretty freaking badass assassin’s set in similar worlds so why not merge the two and have a crossover type book with Celaena and Aaron fighting alongside each other. Or sent to kill each other. That would be EPIC!

6. Jennifer Niven & Jasmine Warga

Jennifer Niven Jasmine WargaThese ladies both released their debut novels this year and both practically had me tears after reading them. They really know how to pull on your heart strings. Therefore they should team up and have me crying like a big baby reading their book together.

5. Sara Raasch & Morgan Rhodes

Sara Raasch Morgan RhodesThese two ladies know how to write an epic fantasy adventure! I’m in love with both their series’ that I feel like they should team up and write an EPIC story about kingdoms, magic, and death! I would be first in line for that one!

4. Pierce Brown & Marissa Meyer

Pierce Brown Marissa MeyerCan we just take a step back and appreciate Pierce Brown’s author photo for a minute. I have the biggest crush on that guy.

Anyway… both Brown and Meyer have what it takes to write the best sci-fi adventures. With Brown’s kickass brutality, and Meyer’s magical fairytales, I think they would be able to write something amazing together.

3. Cassandra Clare & Stephenie Meyer

Cassandra Clare Stephenie MeyerThe Queens of supernatural YA. I don’t care what you guys say about Twilight and The Mortal Instruments, but they are golden! Which is why I think these two ladies right here would be able to make something special with vampires, werewolves and anything else they would be able to create together!

2. Adam Silvera & Becky Albertalli

Adam Silvera Becky AlbertalliHaving just released their debut novels this year, these two have sky rocketed to my favorite authors lists. They write truly meaningful LGBTQ stories and I would die of happiness if they teamed up together to make another one!

1. Morgan Rhodes & Sarah J. Maas

Morgan Rhodes Sarah J. MaasAnd here we have the most EPIC author duo that could ever happen (at least for me). Two of my all time favorites right here. Both write high fantasy and have series’ that I am totally in love with.

If they were to team up, then the world would be complete and they could do no wrong together!

Well there you have it! The Top 10 Author Duos That Need to Write a Book Together. Do we share any of the same duos? Who would you choose? Let me know down below!

Until next time,

Gimme All the Pastries | TAG

44Hey guys!

I was tagged by Ashley from Socially Awkward Bookworm to do the Pastry Book Tag. It looks like fun and I love me some pastries so I decided to give it a go. If you haven’t checked Ashley out, then please do so, she’s awesome.

Croissant: Name a popular book or series that everyone (including you) loves.

HP Philosopher's StoneDo I have to even say anything here? I mean come on, it’s Harry fricking Potter! I’m sure this series is the reason you all love to read in the first place, and if it isn’t then you still love it regardless.

Now if you are the sole person in this world that does not love Harry Potter then I will Wingardium Leviosa your butt to Mars. Bye bye!

Macaron: Name a book that was hard to get through but worth it at the end.

Legacy of KingsLet me tell you how hard it was to get through the first quarter of this book. Everyone and I mean everyone was falling in love with someone. I mean it felt like everyone HAD to be in love or the story wouldn’t make sense. It wasn’t until the real story started unfolding that things started getting good.

Vol-au-vent: Name a book that you thought would be amazing but fell flat.

Cinder-Cough cough- I’m sorry to all the Lunar Chronicle fans, but this book was so damn predictable and the characters except Iko were flat as hell. I will say the the rest of the series so far has been quite enjoyable.

Pain au chocolat: Name a book that you thought would be one thing but turned out to be something else.

A Court of Thorns and RosesI thought this was going to be as kick ass as Crown of Midnight and Heir of Fire because it is written by the same author, but that ending quarter was just so odd. It started out great just as I expected it to… and then it got weird and a little uncomfortable in the cave.

Profiterole: Name a book or series that doesn’t get enough attention.

The Five Stages of Andrew BrawleyThis was such a sweet story with a cool graphic novel written by the main protagonist. I loved every minute reading it and wished there was more Andrew x Rusty love story ❤

No one seems to talk about it much though which is really sad!

Croquembouche: Name a book or series that’s extremely complex.

Red RisingThis book right here had me so confused with all the sci-fi lingo pertaining to the story itself. The world Brown created is so complex that I had to read and re-read a couple pages in order to get clarification!

Napoleon: Name a movie or TV show based off a book that you liked better than the book itself.

The DUFFAs much as I enjoyed The DUFF, I can confidently say that I loved the movie so much more. It was hilariously funny and deviated a bit from the book’s concept without losing the story line in the process. You guys should go check it out if you haven’t already!

Empanada: Name a book that was bittersweet.

Red QueenYes this book was very bittersweet. Although I did enjoy it quite a bit, the hype ruined my high expectations. I was wanting new and innovative, but instead I got repetitive and old. If there was no hype to this book I probably would have enjoyed it a lot more than I did.

Kolompeh: Name a book or series that takes place somewhere other than your home country.

Falling KingdomsI could literally say everything book that I have read because this book is obviously aimed towards Americans… but I will pick a book that is in a totally different world then our own. That is non other than the epic high fantasy that is Falling Kingdoms. Set in Mytica, a realm in an alternate universe as many fantasy novels tend to be set in.

Pate a Choux: Name one food from a book or series that you would like to try.

TwilightThat apple on the Twilight cover. Yes… that is right. I chose the apple from the cover. Why you ask? Well I don’t really pay attention to the food aspects when I’m reading a book and that apple just looks so damn yummy!

Well there you have it! The Pastry Book Tag. I hope you enjoyed it and that I didn’t give you any cravings while reading the yummy pastry names.

Until next time,

Sig New
