RosemarkedA healer who cannot be healed . . .

When Zivah falls prey to the deadly rose plague, she knows it’s only a matter of time before she fully succumbs. Now she’s destined to live her last days in isolation, cut off from her people and unable to practice her art—until a threat to her village creates a need that only she can fill.

A soldier shattered by war . . .

Thrust together on a high-stakes mission to spy on the capital, the two couldn’t be more different: Zivah, deeply committed to her vow of healing, and Dineas, yearning for vengeance. But as they grow closer, they must find common ground to protect those they love. SCI-F

The Empress by S.J. Kincaid (The Diabolic #2)

Published by Simon & Schuster Books for Young Readers

October 31st 2017

The EmpressIt’s a new day in the Empire. Tyrus has ascended to the throne with Nemesis by his side and now they can find a new way forward—one where they don’t have to hide or scheme or kill. One where creatures like Nemesis will be given worth and recognition, where science and information can be shared with everyone and not just the elite.

But having power isn’t the same thing as keeping it, and change isn’t always welcome. The ruling class, the Grandiloquy, has held control over planets and systems for centuries—and they are plotting to stop this teenage Emperor and Nemesis, who is considered nothing more than a creature and certainly not worthy of being Empress.

Nemesis will protect Tyrus at any cost. He is the love of her life, and they are partners in this new beginning. But she cannot protect him by being the killing machine she once was. She will have to prove the humanity that she’s found inside herself to the whole Empire—or she and Tyrus may lose more than just the throne. But if proving her humanity means that she and Tyrus must do inhuman things, is the fight worth the cost of winning it?

CONTEMPORARY

Starry Eyes by Jenn Bennett

Published by Simon Pulse

April 3rd 2018

Starry EyesEver since last year’s homecoming dance, best friends-turned-best enemies Zorie and Lennon have made an art of avoiding each other. It doesn’t hurt that their families are the modern day, Californian version of the Montagues and Capulets.

But when a group camping trip goes south, Zorie and Lennon find themselves stranded in the wilderness. Alone. Together.

What could go wrong?

With no one but each other for company, Zorie and Lennon have no choice but to hash out their issues via witty jabs and insults as they try to make their way to safety. But fighting each other while also fighting off the forces of nature makes getting out of the woods in one piece less and less likely.

And as the two travel deeper into Northern California’s rugged backcountry, secrets and hidden feelings surface. But can Zorie and Lennon’s rekindled connection survive out in the real world? Or was it just a result of the fresh forest air and the magic of the twinkling stars?

You’ll Miss Me When I’m Gone by Rachel Lynn Solomon

Published by Simon Pulse

January 2nd 2018

You'll Miss Me When I'm GoneEighteen-year-old twins Adina and Tovah have little in common besides their ambitious nature. Viola prodigy Adina yearns to become a soloist—and to convince her music teacher he wants her the way she wants him. Overachiever Tovah awaits her acceptance to Johns Hopkins, the first step on her path toward med school and a career as a surgeon.

But one thing could wreck their carefully planned futures: a genetic test for Huntington’s, a rare degenerative disease that slowly steals control of the body and mind. It’s turned their Israeli mother into a near stranger and fractured the sisters’ own bond in ways they’ll never admit. While Tovah finds comfort in their Jewish religion, Adina rebels against its rules.

When the results come in, one twin tests negative for Huntington’s. The other tests positive.

These opposite outcomes push them farther apart as they wrestle with guilt, betrayal, and the unexpected thrill of first love. How can they repair their relationship, and is it even worth saving?

Everywhere You Want to Be by Christina June

Published by HarperCollins

May 1st 2018

Everywhere You Want to BeMatilda Castillo has always followed the rules, but when she gets injured senior year, she’s sure her dreams of becoming a contemporary dancer have slipped away. So when Tilly gets a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to spend the summer with a New York dance troupe, nothing can stop her from saying yes—not her mother, not her fears of the big city, and not the commitment she made to Georgetown. Tilly’s mother allows her to go on two conditions: one, Tilly will regularly visit her abuela in New Jersey, and two, after the summer, she’ll give up dancing and go off to college.

Armed with her red vintage sunglasses and her pros and cons lists, Tilly strikes out, determined to turn a summer job into a career—and figure out how to break it to her mother later. Along the way she meets new friends … and new enemies. Tilly isn’t the only one desperate to dance, and fellow troupe member Sabrina Wolfrik intends to succeed at any cost. But despite dodging sabotage and blackmail attempts from Sabrina, Tilly can’t help but fall in love with the city, especially since Paolo, a handsome musician from her past, is also calling New York home for the summer.

As the weeks wind down and the competition with Sabrina heats up, Tilly’s future is on the line. She must decide whether to follow her mother’s path to Georgetown or leap into the unknown to pursue her own dreams.

Bath and Body Works | TAG

Bath-and-Body-Works-TagI was tagged by Valerie @Little Dutch Bookshop to do the Bath and Body works tag! Thanks for tagging me! I love Bath and Body Works, especially their soaps and candles. They always have the best scents. So let’s get into this!

Pure Paradise – A book that was pure perfection

Bath1Falling KingdomsFalling Kingdoms by Morgan Rhodes was absolute perfection in my mind. Not only is it my favorite fantasy book of all time, but it is also the start of my favorite fantasy series of all time too!

.

Sweet Pea – A romance/contemporary you really enjoyed

Bath2Simon Vs. The Homo Sapiens AgendaSimon Vs. The Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli is the sweetest contemporary I have ever read. I loved Simon and Blue and their love story that unfolded on the pages. Through the ups and downs. It was perfectly enjoyable!

.

Fresh Strawberries – A book you really enjoyed that came out this year

Bath3Heir of FireHeir of Fire by Sarah J. Maas came out in 2014 and it was the start of my love for the Throne of Glass series. The first two books were great don’t get me wrong… but Heir of Fire just knocked them out of the water and got the ball rolling in Celaena’s story!

.

Warm Vanilla – A character and/or book that made you feel all warm inside

Bath4HP Philosopher's StoneHarry Potter and the Philospher’s Stone left me all warm inside for nostalgic reasons. I grew up watching the movies. It took me 15 years to read the book. The feeling I got after reading it, ignited the spark in me for imagination and magic again. Thank you Harry!

.

Paris Amour – A couple you majorly ship together

Bath5MagnusAlecMagnus Bane x Alec Lightwood from the Mortal Instruments series. They will forever be my OTP. They belong together forever and ever. And NO I have not finished the series yet, so I don’t know what’s going to happen to them. So no spoilers ok?

.

Dancing Waters – A book that takes place on the beach/ the perfect beach read

Bath6The Last SeekerI don’t read enough contemporaries to have an actual true answer for this question. But The Last Seeker by Fleur Camacho has a scene at a beach where things get a little life frightening. My worst fear has to do with open water and drowning, so I tend to steer clear of those!

.

I Heart Cake (and Books) – your favorite book

Bath7Falling KingdomsAGAIN… Falling Kingdoms by Morgan Rhodes will always be my favorite book of all time. If you guys have not read this book or series yet, then you are wasting your life big time. Don’t make me slap you with this book. Just go read it ok?

.

Winter Candy Apple – A book set during Christmas or winter

Bath8FrostfireFrostfire by Amanda Hocking is the spinoff series from Trylle and is set in a winter like setting. I love books that take place with snow and Christmas feels. Just perfect in time for December coming soon!

.

Beautiful Day – A book with an unusual/interesting/appealing setting

Bath9Steel HeartSteelheart by Brandon Sanderson is based in Newcago which is a futuristic Chicago that is made of steel and set in perpetual darkness. I don’t know what it was about this setting that appealed to me so much, but I was just dazzled by it. I feel like I’m the only one though!

.

Dazzling Diamonds – A beautiful cover

Bath10FlamecasterI recently came across this cover of Flamecaster by Cinda Williams Chima and I thought it was absolutely gorgeous. It is the first book taking place in her Seven Realms world that comes out next year and I honestly can’t wait!

.

Well there you have! After doing this tag I’m craving to light some candles and take a long bath with my pretty soaps! Too bad I hate baths… Anyways…

Then Jes meets Kalliarkos, and an unlikely friendship between a girl of mixed race and a Patron boy causes heads to turn.
