Fireblood by Elly Blake is a sequel to this year’s explosive fantasy debut, Frostblood. I can’t express how much I love this series. I really enjoyed the characters and the starting point for the story in Frostblood, but Fireblood has taken this series to a whole new level for me! More characters, thicker plot, cool villains, and awesome powers. I AM SO EXCITED FOR THE FINALE NOW!

I don’t want to give away too much about the book or spoil too much of Frostblood, but guys, believe me when I say this series is worth the read! If you love strong characters, gods, powers, easy to follow story line, and action packed scenes, you will love this one.

Blake has seriously outdone herself this time around. She expands on the lore of the world she has created. Introducing the Fireblood queen and her court along with expanding on the gods we only heard about in the first book was only the many intricate plot details she included this time around.

Ruby has grown on me. In Frostblood I wasn’t sure about her. There was just something blocking me from fully committing to her. But this time around she is 100% more likable! Kai was a great addition to the cast. Not only did he cause strife between the two lovebirds, but also added intrigue and layers to plot line. I enjoyed his personality more than I thought I would. Because he was put in to be a rival to Arcus, my baby prince, I decided I would hate him. But it was very hard to do that.

Arcus, my sweet cold blooded brooding hero. There were times I wanted to slap him upside the head. He is still very much an internal feelings kind of guy. It was frustrating to see him not act on his feelings when it came to Ruby. Whether it was love, fear, rage or sorrow; he just internalized it all. But he will forever be my favorite.

I am so excited to see where the story takes us in the finale. I can tell by how Fireblood ended that it is definitely going to be an explosive ending. I don’t think I am ready for it to end so soon.
