Hey Bookworms!
2017 has been an exciting book reading year for me. I have almost already surpassed the amount of books I read last year and we are only 6 months into the year. Here’s to doubling that and reading some amazing books!
1. BEST BOOK YOU’VE READ SO FAR IN 2017?
I have 2 books for this question. Neither one surpassed the other in greatness in my opinion. I loved them both to death!!
The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas – REVIEW
At the Edge of the Universe by Shaun David Hutchinson
2. BEST SEQUEL YOU’VE READ SO FAR IN 2017?
I think I have only read 2 or 3 sequels so far this year. Which is pretty sad because I know there are more EPIC series that I’ve only read the first book so far.
The Wish Granter by C.J. Redwine (Ravenspire #2) – REVIEW
3. NEW RELEASE YOU HAVEN’T READ YET, BUT WANT TO?
I think I have been pretty good so far with reading new releases that I have been anticipating for a while. But there is one book in particular that a lot of people have been raving about, and I can’t wait to get to it!
The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue by Mackenzi Lee
4. MOST ANTICIPATED RELEASE FOR THE SECOND HALF OF 2017?
There are so many books to choose for this one. I always find that the last half of the year holds the biggest releases. BUT there is one book in particular that I NEED right now. It is the finale to my favourite books series of ALL TIME!
Immortal Reign by Morgan Rhodes (Falling Kingdoms #6)
5. BIGGEST DISAPPOINTMENT?
One of my childhood comic book characters got butchered in the new and updated Archie Comics world. The first volume’s art was not to my liking and the story was downgraded by lame “dream sequences.”
Jughead Vol.1 by Chip Zdarsky
6. BIGGEST SURPRISE?
There is one book that a lot of my bookish friends love but I was skeptical about. I am not a reader of MG fiction so I didn’t jump at the chance to read it. BUT I finally gave it a chance and I am so glad I did. I loved it!
The Blackthorn Key by Kevin Sands (The Blackthorn Key #1)
7. FAVOURITE NEW AUTHOR?
There are three authors that I read their books for the first time. 2 of them are debut authors and the other is a popular YA author! I will most definitely continue reading the books they put out!
Frostblood by ELLY BLAKE (Frostblood #1) – REVIEW
The Love Interest by CALE DIETRICH – REVIEW
The Wrath and the Dawn by RENEE AHDIEH (The Wrath and the Dawn #1)
8. NEWEST FICTIONAL CRUSH?
There hasn’t been many stand out fictional crushes this year. Which is sad because I love having book boyfriends. But there is one that stood out from the crowd.
Arcus from
Frostblood by Elly Blake (Frostblood #1) – REVIEW
9. NEWEST FAVOURITE CHARACTER?
There has been many stand out characters from the books that I have read so far this year. But one in particular grabbed my attention with her strength, charisma, and heart.
Carys from
Dividing Eden by Joelle Charbonneau (Dividing Eden #1) – REVIEW
10. BOOK THAT MADE YOU CRY?
I’ve mentioned this time and time again. I have yet to find a book that has made me cry. Many have come close in the past, but none have achieved my sacred tears. Unfortunately 2017 seems to be following the same pattern.
11. BOOK THAT MADE YOU HAPPY?
I love reading, so I tend to choose books I know will make me happy! There are many books in the running for this category but only 2 came out on top for me. For both nostalgia reasons and amazing art/stories, these 2 elevated my happiness levels!
Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Vol. 2 by Kyle Higgins
Jughead Vol. 2 by Ryan North
12. FAVOURITE BOOK TO MOVIE ADAPTATION THAT YOU SAW THIS YEAR?
From the top of my head I think I have only seen one book to movie adaption this year. Well at least the only one that was good enough to be remembered! It was perfect in every way. From story authenticity and great actors this one stood above the rest!
The Everything Everything Movie by Nicola Yoon
Directed by Stella Meghie
Starring Amandla Stenberg and Nick Robinson
13. FAVOURITE REVIEW YOU’VE WRITTEN THIS YEAR?
Wanna know a secret? I don’t find writing reviews fun at all. It is acutally my least favorite thing about book blogging. So I don’t really have a favorite reveiw that I’ve written this year. BUT here are some I think you should check out anyway:
The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas – REVIEW
The Beast Is an Animal by Peternelle van Arsdale – REVIEW
Strange the Dreamer by Laini Taylor (Stranger the Dreamer #1) – REVIEW
Spindle Fire by Lexa Hillyer (Spindle Fire #1) – REVIEW
14. MOST BEAUTIFUL BOOK YOU BOUGHT SO FAR THIS YEAR?
This book that I am mentioning could not be any more beautiful. From the blue and black cover to the music themes could not be any more my aesthetic.
Our Dark Duet by Victoria Schwab (Monsters of Verity #2)
15. WHAT BOOKS DO YOU NEED TO READ BY THE END OF THE YEAR?
I have the rest of my reading year cut out for me. I better start now! See you at the end of it. Hopefully I can make it out alive.
They Both Die at the End by Adam Silvera
Feral Youth by Shaun David Hutchinson
Mask of Shadows by Linsey Miller (Untitled #1)
