Hey guys!
Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Breaking the Spine that spotlights highly anticipated upcoming releases.
So here’s what I’m waiting on this week!
Holding Up the Universe
Author: Jennifer Niven
Series: Standalone
Genre: YA, Contemporary
Publisher: Knopf Books for Young Readers
Publication Date: October 4th 2016
Everyone thinks they know Libby Strout, the girl once dubbed “America’s Fattest Teen.” But no one’s taken the time to look past her weight to get to know who she really is. Following her mom’s death, she’s been picking up the pieces in the privacy of her home, dealing with her heartbroken father and her own grief. Now, Libby’s ready: for high school, for new friends, for love, and for EVERY POSSIBILITY LIFE HAS TO OFFER. In that moment, I know the part I want to play here at MVB High. I want to be the girl who can do anything.
Everyone thinks they know Jack Masselin, too. Yes, he’s got swagger, but he’s also mastered the impossible art of giving people what they want, of fitting in. What no one knows is that Jack has a newly acquired secret: he can’t recognize faces. Even his own brothers are strangers to him. He’s the guy who can re-engineer and rebuild anything in new and bad-ass ways, but he can’t understand what’s going on with the inner workings of his brain. So he tells himself to play it cool: Be charming. Be hilarious. Don’t get too close to anyone.
Until he meets Libby. When the two get tangled up in a cruel high school game—which lands them in group counseling and community service—Libby and Jack are both pissed, and then surprised. Because the more time they spend together, the less alone they feel. . . . Because sometimes when you meet someone, it changes the world, theirs and yours.
Why I’m Waiting
Ever since this book started getting some heat for it’s controversial synopsis, I knew I had to read it. I always give books a chance when people start hating on it for stupid reasons. Grow up y’all. I also really loved All the Bright Places two years ago!
P.S. Jennifer Niven is the author of All the Bright Places and a couple adult novels as well.
What has you guys waiting this week? Let me know down below!
Until next time,
Omg, I’ve been waiting for this book for what seemed like a long time already and I can’t even hide my excitement on its release three weeks from now! I’m glad to find someone who’s waiting for it like I do. I super love ATBP! – Myrra (https://myrrazenkate.com)

This one sounds interesting… Not sure if it’s really my type of book but I’m curious to see where the author takes the story. Not the best cover either I must say but it’s what’s inside that counts, right?

I actually like the cover to be honest. But I don’t see how it relates to the story? Maybe it has to do with the male character’s lack of face recognition. I guess I will find out after reading!

This sounds like it could be a truly emotional story. I am not too sure if it is a “my type” kind of story, but I do love the cover!

So far so good. I’m reading the ARC right now. The characters are quite likeable!

I admit that I tend to gravitate towards books that are getting a lot of hype. Seems like a great story!
