Mid-Year Book Freak Out TAG

TAGS

Hey guys!

I was tagged by Jess from Princessica of Books and Vivian from Inked in Pages to do the Mid-Year Book Freak Out Tag. Go check their blogs, you won’t be disappointed!

I did this tag last year 2015 and had so much fun doing it, that I decided why not do it again this time around with the amazing books I’ve read so far in 2016.

BEST BOOK YOU’VE READ SO FAR IN 2016

Frozen TidesFrozen Tides by Morgan Rhodes

What can I say? You guys already know how much I love the Falling Kingdoms series. So it should come as no surprise that the latest installment, Book #4, is that best book I’ve read so far in 2016! The adventure keeps climbing, and with every new book so does my love for this series!

BEST SEQUEL YOU’VE READ SO FAR IN 2016

Morning StarMorning Star by Pierce Brown

This glorious book was GLORIOUS! One of the best series finales I have ever read. My love for this series goes beyond just the pretty face of Pierce Brown. The excite is building for Iron Gold next year!

NEW RELEASE YOU HAVEN’T READ YET, BUT WANT TO

The Star-Touched QueenThe Star-Touched Queen by Roshani Chokshi

I have heard amazing things about this book. So much so that I just ordered it in time for the book signing I will be attending at the end of August this year. Hopefully I can read it in time for that!

MOST ANTICIPATED RELEASE FOR THE SECOND HALF OF THE YEAR

Crooked KingdomCrooked Kingdom by Leigh Bardugo

There are a lot of books I am looking forward to reading in the later half of this year. But since reading Six of Crows last year, the anticipation for it’s sequel runs high. I NEED THIS BOOK NOW!

BIGGEST DISAPPOINTMENT

The Shadow QueenThe Shadow Queen by C.J. Redwine

I was so bummed after reading this book. Well to be honest, I was bummed after the first quarter of it. The only character I liked got killed off so early in the book. I don’t even understand why! (ANGRY FACE) 😡

BIGGEST SURPRISE

The Serpent KingThe Serpent King by Jeff Zentner

I normally stay away from books that deal with religion or Christianity in general. And it was right there in the synopsis. The main character is the son of a preacher man. But because I had the ARC, I decided to push past that and give it a shot. AND boy was I surprised! Sure religion plays a part in this book, but it is not the sole focus of it. I absolutely loved it. Read it to find out why!

FAVOURITE NEW AUTHOR (DEBUT OR NEW TO YOU)

Adam Silvera has shot to my top 10 favorite authors list after reading More Happy Than Not this year. But it is not solely based on that book. His online presence on Twitter, and the video’s he is featured in on YouTube are also a contributing factor. He is just an amazing guy all around!

NEWEST FICTIONAL CRUSH

My favorite crushes are constantly changing all the time. But so far this year I’ve only had one major one. That would be Azriel from A Court of Mist and Fury! He is tall, dark, and handsome. Very mysterious. There is so much I want to know about him!

NEWEST FAVOURITE CHARACTER

Henry Denton from We Are the Ants is my newest favorite character. I recently finished this book and I connected so well with him. I can’t imagine what it was like for him to live through his boyfriend’s suicide and not know the reason why. Constantly blaming himself for something out of his control. My feels for him went off the charts!

BOOK THAT MADE YOU CRY

More Happy Than NotMore Happy Than Not by Adam Silvera

I haven’t found a book that has made me cry yet, but if I had to choose one that brought me close to doing so, it would have to be this one. There were many points in the story that had my feelings at it’s peak. And many times I felt the urge to cry. Such a sad book!

BOOK THAT MADE YOU HAPPY

Tell Me Three ThingsTell Me Three Things by Julie Buxbaum

This contemporary was so much fun to read. It had me playing detective trying to find out who this mystery emailer was. I had a theory really early on, then Buxbaum threw us a curve ball at the very end but only to second guess ourselves. Turns out my theory was correct and I couldn’t be happier!!

FAVOURITE BOOK TO FILM ADAPTATION

To be honest, I don’t think I have seen a book to movie adaptation yet this year. The one I am looking forward to the most would be Red Rising by Pierce Brown. As far as I know he is writing the script and the movie has already found a production company to produce it. I AM SO EXCITED!

FAVOURITE POST YOU HAVE DONE THIS YEAR

I have done a lot of posts that I have been proud of this year. But the one that beats out the rest would have to be Why Commenting Is Important from my Discussion’s at Dawn Series! It is hands down my most commented on blog post and constantly gets new views.

MOST BEAUTIFUL BOOK YOU’VE BOUGHT THIS YEAR

I couldn’t pick just one… so here is a collage of BEAUTIFUL BOOK COVERS that I bought this year!

WHAT BOOK DO YOU NEED TO READ BY THE END OF THE YEAR

What don’t I need to read by the end of this year… ALL THE BOOKS! But again here is a collage of books I want to start and finish this year:

Well there you have it. My Mid-Year Book Freak Out Tag. What have you been freaking out for this year? I’d love to know!!

  1. I WANT TO DO THIS TAG, BUT I CAN’T FIGURE OUT WHEN TO DO IT. Should I do it now? But I have posts scheduled. Should I do it later? But then it’ll be so late to be called a mid-year freakout. BLOGGING IS HARD. #firstworldproblems

“What don’t I need to read by the end of this year… ALL THE BOOKS!” Lmao, Jesse, sometimes I relate to you so much.

  2. All of this is so accurate that I don’t even know what to make note of first. The Serpent King is ah-mazing so I’m glad you enjoyed it! You should probs read The Star Touched Queen before the Brampton event if you’re going but you won’t regret it. It’s lyrical and beautiful and awesome. Also you have a lot of books you want to read by the end of the year, says the girl with 52 books she wants to read before the end of August. Hope you succeed!

  3. I love the cover for Frozen Tides!! I have already read both This Savage Song and The Crown’s Game! The first I felt lacked that extra Spark and the second I was a tad disappointed! I also really want to read Exit: pursued by a bear!! Looks great! I have already read the first two in the Winners Curse trilogy, but still need to get to the third book!! I also need to read Tamora Pierce!
