This week’s topic is Top 10 New to Me Authors 2015 Edition.

This is the first year that I can say I dedicated a lot of my time to reading. I have read more books this one year then I have any other year. And because of that, I have also read a lot of new authors to me. They may not be new to the book world, but they were new to me.

So without dragging this out any longer. Let’s see who I chose!

10. A. G. Howard

A.G. Howard

A.G. Howard is the author of the Splintered Trilogy. And I managed to read all three this year!

9. Rainbow Rowell

Rainbow Rowell

Rainbow is the author of such books as Eleanor and Park, Fangirl, and Carry On! I had to opportunity to read Eleanor and Park this year and really enjoyed it.

8. Sarah J. Maas

Sarah J. Maas

Sarah J. Maas is the author of the Throne of Glass series, and I read all 4 books this year plus her new series A Court of Thorns and Roses. It’s slowly creeping it’s way to my favorite fantasy lists!

7. Shaun David Hutchinson

Shaun David Hutchinson

Shaun David Hutchinson has written such books as FML and Deathday Letter, but this year I read his book 5 Stages of Andrew Brawley and instantly fell in love. Looking forward to We Are The Ants in 2016!

6. Marie Lu

Marie Lu is the author of the Legend Trilogy and her newest series The Young Elites. As of right now, I have read all of her books this year. What a wild ride they were!

5. Gail Carriger

Gail Carriger

Gail Carriger is the author of several series that include: Parasol Protectorate and Finishing School. I had the opportunity to start her Parasol Protectorate series and I loved it. Looking forward to continuing on!

4. Marissa Meyer

Marissa Meyer

Marissa Meyer just concluded her Lunar Chronicles Series recently with Winter. Even though I haven’t read that one yet, I did read the first 3 books in the series this year. I’m nervous for the ending though.

3. Brandon Sanderson

Brandon Sanderson

Brandon Sanderson is the talented author of the Mistborn Series that I have yet to read. But I did read the start of his Reckoners series this year. It was such a great book about superheroes and villains! Love it.

Steel Heart

2. Pierce Brown

Pierce Brown

This gorgeous author right here has become a bit of an obsession this year! He is the author of the Red Rising Trilogy that I had the fortunate opportunity to read this year. I think I’d faint if I ever met him.

1. Leigh Bardugo

Leigh Bardugo

Leigh Bardugo has become my second favorite author of all time. She is the author of the Grisha Trilogy and the recently released Six of Crows. I love her characters, worlds, and writing style. I read all 4 books this year!

      1. Im always behind the times with books and book series. I just joined Goodreads this year to try to keep up with all the new releases and everything!

  2. Great list, Jesse! I have the first book in the Splintered series just sitting on my shelf; I should really get around to reading it soon!
I get why you may be nervous about Winter but I thought it was a brilliant end. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts.
Also, I ask this random question to anyone who’s read ACOTAR. Tamlin or Rhysand? XD

    1. I think you’d enjoy Splintered! 😀

But 800 pages for Winter??? ughhh

I’m on the Tamlin boat for one reason. Rhys is a creep. I didn’t like how he drugged and paraded her around in revealing clothes during the cave arc of the story. But to be quite honest, I’m not immersed in either ship. Hopefully book 2 can solidify one for me.

      1. I know! 800 pages seems kind of insane. xD I’d love to hear your thoughts when you finally get to it.
LOL, I’m with you on the Rhys thing. I’m kind of over the dark, slightly abusive love interest trope in YA. For once I’d just like the nice guy to get the girl, haha. xD

  3. I’m ashamed to admit I’ve yet to read any of Marie Lu’s books and I’ve been wanting to read The Young Elites for a while now. I was terrified that Winter wouldn’t live up to my expectations but I was so wrong and it is such a great end to a wonderful series. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
I’d probably have the same reaction if I ever met Pierce Brown and I think Morning Star may well and truly break me haha. 😀

    1. The Young Elites is a great book! And her Legend trilogy is really well written too.
I want to read Winter… but it’s going to take me forever to get through it. 800 pages?? ughhh
Is it bad to say that I still haven’t read Golden Son yet? People are telling me to wait until Morning Star comes out so I can read them back to back.

      1. I was surprised by how fast I managed to read Winter because it usually takes me at least a week to read a book that long but the pacing of the book was really good and I found it easy to get sucked into the story.
Oh I definitely get why you’d wait to read Golden Son. I feel like I need to re-read it so i can be reacquainted with the characters before Morning Star.

  4. SARAH J MAAS IS AMAZING. I cannot even handle it. I don’t know what my life would be like if the Throne of Glads series didn’t charge it’s way into my life. My life would be very much dull without it!

  5. Leigh is simply amazing. I have yet to read Six of Crows. I think I’m saving it for my first book of 2016. Would be a good way to start the year I think.

Almost all of the authors you mentioned are on my TBR pile. I keep seeing them in this weeks Tuesday posts and it’s making me want to read them even more. Fantastic list as always!
