Spotlight Saturday is a weekly feature, created by Josie at Josie’s Book Corner, dedicated to spotlighting and pinpointing some of the things over the week that have caught my attention more than usual, things I’ve particularly loved, etc.
So now that you guys know what it’s all about, how about you join in the fun and hop on over to Josie’s Book Corner and check out how to do so~
This week I want to spotlight a blogger who I have come to know and admire. It is none other then Ashley from The Socially Awkward Bookworm.
She is always reading and commenting on my blog posts and showing me the love. So this is me giving back. I love her blog. It is so simple and pretty! She has great content as well. I love her tags and memes because we have very similar tastes and opinions. Plus her reviews are always on point and one of the few people I turn to for good books to read next.
So go check out her blog and show some love! You can never give too much of that!
This week I have two blog posts I want to spotlight because they were just too good to just choose one! We’ll start off with The Best Writing Advice Anyone’s Ever Given Me by Breeanna Pierce @Breeannapierce.
In her post she talks about writing the story you want to read. I think this is such great advice because it will keep you interested and in love with what you are writing. Don’t write something that will please others, write something that will please you. Because there will be at least one other person in the world that would love to read it too. If you want to go more in depth with the topic, head on over to her post and check it out!
Secondly I want to spotlight a very important topic going around right now in the book world: Diversity in YA Books by Josie @Josie’s Book Corner
Why do I think this is such an important topic? Because EVERYONE in this world needs to be able to relate to characters in one way or another. Whether it is ethnicity, culture, sexual orientation, or any sort of physical/mental disability. I don’t know about you, but I am tired of reading books about the blonde hair blue eyed white hero/heroine/protagonist and their perfect band of perfect white friends. Like I said in my comment on the post. Instead of the perfect white assassin, how about we get a story on the her black warrior princess best friend. Just something to think about. If you want to join the discussion, head on over to her post!
I have finally moved on to new books. It took me a while to read my last one that I never thought I would finish it. But here I am reading a new book and it is none other then:
Siege and Storm by Leigh Bardugo
Darkness never dies.
Hunted across the True Sea, haunted by the lives she took on the Fold, Alina must try to make a life with Mal in an unfamiliar land. She finds starting new is not easy while keeping her identity as the Sun Summoner a secret. She can’t outrun her past or her destiny for long.
The Darkling has emerged from the Shadow Fold with a terrifying new power and a dangerous plan that will test the very boundaries of the natural world. With the help of a notorious privateer, Alina returns to the country she abandoned, determined to fight the forces gathering against Ravka. But as her power grows, Alina slips deeper into the Darkling’s game of forbidden magic, and farther away from Mal. Somehow, she will have to choose between her country, her power, and the love she always thought would guide her–or risk losing everything to the oncoming storm.
Let’s hope I can finish this one quickly as I am falling behind in my reading schedule!
Guys. My dreams came true this week! I went to my first KPOP concert and it was for one of my favorite boy groups of ALL TIME: Big Bang!
It was such an amazing concert. They played all their new songs from their forth coming album yet to be released, M.A.D.E. The light show was amazing, the pyrotechnics was amazing, the vocals was amazing, the band was amazing, the visuals were amazing, the outfits were amazing, the dancers were amazing, and of course my boys were amazing. I’m thinking your catching on that this concert was … AMAZING. Although I was up in the nose bleeders because I’m so poor T___T I still was able to have the best time with my friends. Let’s just say I didn’t have a voice afterwards from all the fanboying and singing I did.
After the show ended they came back to do an encore of two songs, BUT they didn’t want to leave just yet so they started playing songs that they had already sung earlier. They were adorable and their English was amazing! I loved every moment from the concert and if I ever get the opportunity again, I want to see them in the future!
Ok, the fanboy in me is now satisfied. Thank you for bearing through that. You may move on now!

This week I’m bringing you guys two brand new releases for my spotlighted song, and it is none other than AOA with their 1st Japanese album, Oh Boy, and Selena Gomez with her 2nd solo album, Revival.
With the release of their last three Japanese singles, AOA is back with their first Japanese Album. Leading with the single Oh Boy, we get a fast upbeat song with amazing vocals and an addictive hook. The visuals and choreography are also on point with the concept of the song. Very AOA style.
Selena Gomez – Kill em With Kindness
Selena Gomez just released her 2nd solo album this week after releasing two singles, Good for You and Same Old Love. But their is one song in particular I want to spotlight, and it’s none other then Kill em With Kindness. This song has such a good message and a motto that I try to live by in life. With great instrumentals and vocals, Selena really knocks it out of the park with this one.
Lastly I bring you another quote from Twitter this week!
“Don’t choose someone if they have to think twice about choosing you.” – Books Here@ReadingBookPost
Just because things feel good, just because you don’t want to change things, don’t be with someone who can’t give them 100% of themselves to you. You deserve better then that. Always remember that!
Well there ya have it guys! My eighth Spotlight Saturday post! Thanks again Josie for letting me join in on the fun. Tell me what you guys want to put a spotlight on, I would love to know!
Until next time,
I’m so happy that you got to go to the Big Bang concert!!! They were in Sydney today and I saw so many Snapchats tonight. Sadly I’m more of a J-Pop girl than a K-Pop girl but if my favourite Japanese boy band came I’d be freaking out like crazy!

When I was in my early teens, I listened to DBSG a lot (no idea if they’re still called that? DBSG? TVXQ?) I was obsessed with one of the guys.

DBSK! Yeahh. There’s only two members left. The other three ended their contracts with the company! It was a sad time then.

Oh what?! Noooo. I still kind of remember their names. I was obsessed with Yunho. But I really liked Hero and Micky too. They probably look really different now… it’s been 10 years HAHA

Yunho is my favorite too!
Yeah it’s only Yunho and Changmin (Max) in the group now. They are still pretty successful duo though! They’ve had many hit songs after the group split.
Jaejoong (Hero), Yoochun (Mickey), and Junsu (Xia) went on to form their own trio, JYJ. It hasn’t been as successful for them in my opinion.

It’s so strange that they’d split up and form their own trio? Why not just stay together as a group…..? I guess you probably have more solo time as a duo or trio than a group of 5.

There was a huge lawsuit with the contracts and everything. It was just a huge mess. But oh well! TVXQ ftw!

Wow! I’m happy you got to see them live! I keep seeing Big Bang concert on my facebook feed and it’s amazing how wild the crowd goes when they sing on stage. I’m not big on K-pop but I’m a fan of Koreanovelas. I think they’re the ones who sang the theme for Iris though I’m not entirely certain (can’t remember. it was years ago!). One of Big Bang’s member was also an actor on the show too 😀

Yes, TOP is a very talented actor as well as a rapper. There were a couple acting bits in the videos they played at the concert that showcased how good he is!

Cool! His English was relatively good for Koreans I heard!

Oh it really is. He just gets shy speaking it. He switched from English to Korean at one point 😛

Omg I’m so glad you spotlighted Bree!!! I love her! She is just the best and so encouraging! Seriously though if you ever want to brainstorm on some of your writing ideas I’m all ears! Like this is what I do IRL, you know, help others with their writing in all the stages of it. Helping writers is kinda my passion alongside actual writing! Lol ❤️ Awesome spotlight, as always! So happy that you got to see your fav group in concert! Sounds amazing! I hope you have a great week! I failed to get a spotlight up this week bc the flu hit me like a train, literally, that’s how I felt up until this morning, lol. So the blog has been running on fumes. 😁

I know you’ve got my back! I’m just not in the right mindset to start writing anything. My life is all over the place right now HAHA.
Oh nos! I hope you feel better. I’m starting to come down with something too. I’m literally in bed right now… but still going to go to work later because… money. HAHA

Thank you so much for spotlighting me! 🙂 I am so glad we have become friends and I love your blog so much! So happy that you enjoy my posts and everything! I love that we have a lot of the same taste in books as well! I know I won’t be disappointed with picking any books you’ve read! 🙂
I’m pretty behind on my reading schedule as well. I’ve been in a terrible reading slump this month.
So glad you had fun at the concert! I haven’t been to a concert since last year, which is so sad! Last year I went to seven concerts and none this year. I’m slacking with that!

Well, you’re amazing! Keep up the good work and I’m sure the reading slump with disappear.
Concerts are so much fun… but very expensive on my wallet 😛

Yay! As always, thank you for joining in the weekly weekend fun! I always love your post for this feature! And the moment I saw your spot lighted song I looked it up on Spotify! I’m officially in love with “Kill ‘Em With Kindess” now. Ugh I love the tune and beat of the song!
And I’m glad to see Ashley on your spotlight! I love her so much and I definitely need to make sure to include her in a spotlight post of my own very soon. She is so communicative here on the blogosphere!
