There’s a Fine Line Between Genius and Insanity | Spotlight Saturday [7]

Spotlight SaturdayHey guys!

Spotlight Saturday is a weekly feature, created by Josie at Josie’s Book Corner, dedicated to spotlighting and pinpointing some of the things over the week that have caught my attention more than usual, things I’ve particularly loved, etc.

So now that you guys know what it’s all about, how about you join in the fun and hop on over to Josie’s Book Corner and check out how to do so~

Spotlight BloggerThis week I want to take the opportunity to spotlight a wonderful blogger and writer that I have had a pleasure of talking to for a little while now. It is none other than Nicolette from A Little Bookish, A Little Writerly.

She has become one of my favorite bloggers to chat with and read her lovely posts. She is very talented and has a very pretty blog! We have very similar reading tastes and I enjoy reading her reviews and other bookish related tags and memes. She is always one of the first people to read my posts and always posts her thoughts and I love that. I hope both of us can continue to grow as bloggers and writers and I wish her all the luck in the world with her writing journey right now.

If you have not checked her out, please do so now. She deserves the spotlight this week and you guys should go see why!

Spotlight Blog PostThis week is no surprise that I want to spotlight another one of Aentee’s discussion posts. I feel like every other week I’m spotlighting them because they are just the best ones I come across. This week she discusses blogger insecurities in her post: 4 Common Book Blogger Insecurities (And Why They Don’t Matter!)

I feel like as book bloggers there is always something to be insecure about it. No one is perfect and therefore everyone shares the same feelings deep down. But we need to look past them and stop being envious of others and work on ourselves. The most important aspect is our own enjoyment, and with time everything else will improve along the way.

Aentee talks about about not getting ARC’s, reviews not containing enough criticism and other very important topics and why they shouldn’t matter. So go on over to her post and check them out! It enlightened me, and I’m sure it will do the same for you as well.

Spotlight BookI have traveled back in time a few years and have started reading a new series that has been on my TBR shelf for the longest time. And boy was I ever lame for putting it off for this long. I am loving it so far.

The Demon King by Cinda Williams Chima

The Demon King

Times are hard in the mountain city of Fellsmarch. Reformed thief Han Alister will do almost anything to eke out a living for his family. The only thing of value he has is something he can’t sell—the thick silver cuffs he’s worn since birth. They’re clearly magicked—as he grows, they grow, and he’s never been able to get them off.

One day, Han and his clan friend, Dancer, confront three young wizards setting fire to the sacred mountain of Hanalea. Han takes an amulet from Micah Bayar, son of the High Wizard, to keep him from using it against them. Soon Han learns that the amulet has an evil history—it once belonged to the Demon King, the wizard who nearly destroyed the world a millennium ago. With a magical piece that powerful at stake, Han knows that the Bayars will stop at nothing to get it back.

Meanwhile, Raisa ana‘Marianna, princess heir of the Fells, has her own battles to fight. She’s just returned to court after three years of freedom in the mountains—riding, hunting, and working the famous clan markets. Raisa wants to be more than an ornament in a glittering cage. She aspires to be like Hanalea—the legendary warrior queen who killed the Demon King and saved the world. But her mother has other plans for her…

The Seven Realms tremble when the lives of Hans and Raisa collide, fanning the flames of the smoldering war between clans and wizards.

If you guys haven’t check out The Seven Realms series yet, then get on it. You won’t be disappointed.

Spotlight MomentI am still reeling from the big move I just had last week. This being my first full week back I’ve had a lot to do and get straightened out. But it also the week I’ve started at my new store.

Even thought it is part of the same company, there were a few things to get used to systematically. But the biggest hurdle to overcome is how to fit in with my new team. Being the new guy is never easy. Especially not when the others have already established friendships among themselves. I have to just be real and be me and hopefully I will fully integrate myself in and continue to have fun. Time to get my talking game on and start getting to know my new teammates!

I’ll let you guys know how that goes!

Spotlight SongThis week I’m bringing you two songs that I have had on repeat since they’ve been released over the past couple weeks. And to switch things up a little bit, one is ENGLISH while the other is KOREAN (as usual).

Demi Lovato ConfidantDemi Lovato – Confident

With her new album on the release horizon next week, she leads up to it with her new single Confident. A powerful song about obviously confidence with great instrumentals, vocals and of course a great message as well. “Bitch I run this show”

Watch the crazy kickass video HERE.

Tayeon ITaeyeon – I

The leader from my favorite girl group of all time, Girls’ Generation has finally released some solo work after being in the group for 8 years now. As she is one of the lead vocals from the group I knew I was going to be getting some amazing songs. “I” is a cool pop inspired track with amazing vocals, instrumentals and visuals. My favorite from the album!

Watch the music video HERE.

Spotlight QuoteLastly I bring you another quote from Twitter this week!

  1. Jesse!!! Omg, we’re just two peas in a pod this week. You spotlight me, I spotlight you, all the while we both know we’re gonna do it and neither of us says a damn thing to the other! Lol, I love it!!! Thank you so much! You are the best and I am so so so happy/blessed/lucky/glad/all the fuzzies to have met you and to get to interact with you and share with you our love of bookish things! Your support and encouragement on my writing is so phenomenal and I look forward to sharing my book with you as soon as I feel like I won’t die of embarrassment that it’s actually being read! Lol. Nah, jk, as soon as it’s all set and ready, critiqued and polished, I’ll definitely be coming to you to beta read. I feel like your feedback would be really instrumental in helping me take the book through the last round of revisions before I feel ready to query again to agents.
You’re amazing and I look forward to hearing about what you’re working on writing wise sometime 😉

    1. Stop… you’re gonna make me cry. I’m not THAT awesome 😉

I can’t wait to read it. I know it’s going to amazing! As for me… my writing projects are a mess and still in the preliminary stages. I haven’t even hashed out a full idea. Just lists and lists of potential ones. XD

I’m slow when it comes to this.

      1. Lol, I know what you mean. I think I frustrate my husband because while I’m working on this book, I keep coming up with other ideas for other books (not other books for this series, whole new series) and he’s like “um, don’t you have enough on your plate right now?/ you haven’t even finished book 1 of THIS series, how about you do that? lol. So I’ve got a list too of all the other ideas!
Whenever you do have something that you want looked at, I’d love to be a CP for you!
(And you sort of are super awesome!)

  3. I know what you mean about being the new guy in a team with established friendships. It’s just so hard to penetrate their social circle (not that we want to but we have to for work). I hope everything would be ok 🙂
