I want to first off thank Alyssa from Alyssa is Reading and Calliope from Calliope The Book Goddess, for tagging me to do this one. You can check out there blogs, I’ve linked above!
I have a love hate relationship with TBR’s. I love making lists which is essentially what a TBR is, but I hate having to be constricted to a set amount of books for the month. I’m a pretty sporadic reader and generally like to read whatever my mood is telling me to do, so most of the time I never stick to my monthly TBR’s. But enough of me rambling, let’s get on with this:
How do you keep track of your TBR pile?
There are a couple ways I keep track of my TBR.
- I have a jar with the books on my shelf that I haven’t read yet
- I make a million lists of books that I want to buy and read
- GoodReads helps me find new books to add to my TBR
Other then that, I just pick and choose what books to read when the time comes to do so.
Is your TBR mostly print or ebook?
I like to keep a good mix of both. If I’m commuting I will take my tablet with me and read an e-book instead of lugging a book around all day. When I’m at home I’m usually reading a physical copy.
Also, if I am unsure of a book before reading it, I usually get the e-book format first and if I like it, I go out and get myself a physical copy for my shelf.
How do you determine which book from your TBR to read next?
Like I said above I’m a mood reader. I read whatever I’m in the mood for. I generally like to read at least one or two new releases a month to stay current with my blog and then I will read whatever books have been plaguing my TBR shelf for some time.
A book that has been on your TBR the longest?
This book and it’s sequel have pretty much been on my shelf since they came out dying to be picked up and read. But for the life of my I just can’t seem to do it. There always seems to be something more exciting or more new to read and it keeps getting pushed down to the bottom of the list. Sad I know.
A book you recently added to your TBR
I literally just bought this book yesterday and it will probably get read this month. Funny thing is, I still haven’t read Fangirl, the book this story is loosely based off. Should I read that one first or not?
A book thatβs on your TBR strictly because of the cover
I honestly don’t think I even know what this book is about or if I will ever read it. My mind said “oooh prettyyy” and then my fingers hit the “to be read” shelf on GoodReads. The colors get me every time!
A book on your TBR that you never plan on reading
Yup, I will probably never read this. It’s the thought that counts though right?
An unpublished book on your TBR that you are excited for?
I haven’t even finished The Demon King and I am already excited for Chima’s new series coming out next year!!
A book on your TBR that everyone has read but you
I feel like everyone has already read this book and it’s only been out for about 2 weeks now. I still want to finish the Grisha Trilogy first. I really need to stop reading people’s gushing reviews on this book.
A book on your TBR that everyone recommends to you?
I have had this book recommended to me on way more then one occasion. I just haven’t been in a contemporary mood lately. I’m sure if someone gifts this book to me I would be so grateful that I will read it then. -wink wink-
A book on your TBR that you are dying to read?
You guys have no idea how excruciating the wait is for this book to come out. I have been dying to read this book for the past year after finishing Gathering Darkness. This is series has me hooked by the heart and I am never letting go.
How many books are on your Goodreads TBR?
I thought I would have died of a heart attack from looking at this number, but surprisingly the number of unread books on my GoodReads TBR is only 291. I feel like that’s a small number compared to some other people!
Well that’s it y’all. I hope you guys enjoyed it as much as I did answering the questions. Do we share any similarities? Let me know down below!
Until next time,
I TAG YOU:
Lia @ Bookland
Nicolette @ A Little Bookish, A Little Writerly
Sara @ Freadom Library
Michelle @ The Writing Hufflepuff
Ashley @ The Socially Awkward Bookworm
**Feel free to ignore this if you’ve already done it or don’t want to**
I haven’t read Six of Crows as well and people say it’s really good. Also the Falling Kingdoms covers are all amazing! Every single one of them.
Thanks for tagging me! π

Don’t worry, I haven’t read Six of Crows yet either. I wanted to start and finish the Grisha trilogy first before getting into this one but I’ve been told to just read Six of Crows.. so I ordered it π
You definitely don’t need to read Fangirl before Carry On. We only get to see little snippets of Carry On in Fangirl and I don’t think anything that’s in Fangirl will be in this new book. But you should read Fangirl anyway!

I can’t just read Six of Crows before I finish Grisha! My little OCD would kill me. It’s the same with Fangirl… I feel like I HAVE to read it before Carry On… but no time >.<

Fangirl will be a pretty quick read. I think I finished it in one sitting. I stayed up until 4am because I was so captivated by everything!

I can never sacrifice sleep π
Reading at night doesn’t really work for me that well. I’m a morning reader.

I’m definitely the opposite. I’m such a night owl. Regardless, I think Fangirl will suck you in and will be a pretty quick read.

Then I should go out and buy it right away, yea? HAHA
SO many books so little time… (and money)

You don’t need to read fangirl, but I think it will give you an understanding of the world – though it’s very similar to harry potter and Draco/Harry fanfics, so…
I haven’t even read the Grisha trilogy, need to get on with it to read Six of Crows.
By the way, listened to SHINee today on the plane and I loved it π

That’s good to know. I really want to read Fangirl… but I have no time >.<

Omg! As I was reading your post I thought this is such an awesome tag, I would love to do this sometime, especially bc it would be another type of list for me to make, lol. And then I saw the tag and I got super excited! Lol π

Yay!! I knew I had to tag you for the TBR Tag. It is essentially feeding our addiction of list making. π

Yes! Exactly, which btw, you’re probably going to laugh at my Spotlight tomorrow because, well, lists…
Also, quick question, how did you know I had tagged you for the “Confessions of a Writer” tag? I noticed this tag from you because I pretty much read all your posts, but I didn’t get a notification or “pingback” thingy. What is the best way to tag people so they know they’ve been tagged, do you know?

You link to their About Me Page π
You’ll get a alert sent to your notification when you’ve been tagged for something.

I didn’t get a notification, but I think I know why, I need to check if I have ping backs enabled when I get on my laptop. Thank you for the help! π

No problem π
Yeah you should definitely get notified when someone links to your about me page.

I just went in and allowed Pingbacks & Trackbacks on the About Me page, so that should help because I wasn’t getting notifications before.*shrugs*

I love the idea of putting down your TBR on a jar! And a lot of people recommend Jandy Nelson books to me too, yet I’ve never read any of them π¦ Planning to change that soon, though!
