It Takes Two People to Make a Lie Work | Spotlight Saturday [6]

Spotlight Saturday

Hey guys!

Spotlight Saturday is a weekly feature, created by Josie at Josie’s Book Corner, dedicated to spotlighting and pinpointing some of the things over the week that have caught my attention more than usual, things I’ve particularly loved, etc.

So now that you guys know what it’s all about, how about you join in the fun and hop on over to Josie’s Book Corner and check out how to do so~

Spotlight BloggerThis week’s blogger that I want to spotlight is Joey from Thoughts and Afterthoughts. If you guys don’t follow him then I’m shocked. Get to it right now!

He is my fellow Toronto blogger. I really enjoy reading his blog and find that his thoughts on books are very well formed where as mine are pure emotions. We have very similar book tastes and I feel like we would get a long great in real life! He produces great content along side his amazing reviews, such as his tags, memes, and general discussions about hot topics.

All around great blogger. You don’t find many male bloggers like myself, so when you do you immediately know the bro bonding is going to occur! So go check him out.

P.S. Joey, if you are reading this then know because of you I went out and purchased Zeroes. Can’t wait to start it!

Spotlight Blog PostEvery week I feel like I have been falling more and more behind on all my favorite blogger’s posts. And I will still keep blaming the big move I just had (but ultimately I’m uber lazy). But there was one post this week that has been plaguing my mind for a very long time now. It comes from one of my good blogging friends Aentee @ReadatMidnight.

Is it Possible to Measure Blogging Success?

Like I said, this plagues my mind on a daily basis. Is my blog successful? Do I produce content people want to read? What can I do to improve myself? And many other questions along those lines. I personally do not think my blog is that successful, but then again I’m usually hard on myself and can never seem to be pleased. But to what lengths do I have to go to be considered a successful blogger?

I constantly wonder if it would even make a difference to me. Isn’t this just a hobby to me and should the success of it play a big part of the enjoyment? So many questions I got answered after reading Aentee’s post and a lot of great advice as well. I am just going to keep doing what I’m doing and enjoy it while I’m at it!

Spotlight BookI swear I have been reading this book for almost two weeks now. It is enormous and I can never seem to read more than a couple chapters at a time. But I am enjoying it immensely.

Queen of Shadows by Sarah J. Maas

Queen of Shadows

The queen has returned.

Everyone Celaena Sardothien loves has been taken from her. But she’s at last returned to the empire—for vengeance, to rescue her once-glorious kingdom, and to confront the shadows of her past . . .

She has embraced her identity as Aelin Galathynius, Queen of Terrasen. But before she can reclaim her throne, she must fight.

She will fight for her cousin, a warrior prepared to die for her. She will fight for her friend, a young man trapped in an unspeakable prison. And she will fight for her people, enslaved to a brutal king and awaiting their lost queen’s triumphant return.

I am determined to finish this book as quick as possible. I need to find out how it ends!

Spotlight MomentAs many of you guys know, I recently made a big move back home this week. And let me tell you, it was not easy to do. Crossing provinces was a big hassle. Not only was I packing and preparing for a couple weeks before the move, but I was also saying my goodbyes to the new friends and coworkers I made living in Winnipeg for the year.

But now that I am back and somewhat settled in I have a lot to catch up on. I have so many books to unpack, a room to paint, shelves to organize, things to clean, family members to see, and friends to catch up with. Let me tell you how exhausted I am right now. As you can tell I’m a day late with this post and that just speaks to how busy I have been. But it’s all been worth it. I’m back home surrounded by the people I care most for in the city I love and I couldn’t be happier!

Thanks for being patient with me and I promise to be back up and running normally as soon as possible!

Spotlight SongThis week I’m bringing you guys two brand new releases for my spotlighted song, and it is none other than GOT7 with their 4th mini album, MAD, and Lovelyz with their 1st mini album, Lovelyz8.

Got7GOT7 – If You Do

This song came out at the beginning of the week and it took a 180 turn on GOT7’s goofy boy group image. They upgraded for a more sophisticated look and sound. The song is about being frustrated with the person your with because they just don’t care what happens in the relationship. If you want to check out the song and video CLICK HERE

LovelyzLovelyz – Ah Choo

Everyone needs a little more cute in their life and only been released for a couple days this song does just that. It’s cute uptempo pop song about finding the perfect person to be with and wanting to do all these cute things for them. This is also the first comeback with all 8 members of the group performing on one stage together after one members slight controversy last year which prevented her from doing so. 1. Congrats on getting somewhat settled after the big move. It sounds like you still have a bit you want to do but it is great to hear that your doing so well! I’ve moved way too much in my life and hate it every time, so good on you for the positive attitude! Lol!
I also love Joey’s posts and it is rare to find male book bloggers, don’t know why, but the perspective is totally different and provides an awesome mix on the norm in a heavily female dominated niche, I’m glad to spotlighted him!! And I can’t wait to chat with you about Zeroes, I spotlighted it this week too and getting to talk to Joey about it is also part of the allure of finishing it quickly, lol, (which I’m totally not right now bc of too much on my plate but in my head I’m reading it fast). 😁

      1. I envy that you can read two books at once! I was/am trying to be a book polygamist but am failing miserably. I was supposed to be reading Zeroes and Six of Crows at the same time, but then I started Time Heist somehow and now I’m just a flailing mess. Lol.

      2. You must limit yourself and just take turns reading the books. Sometimes I will choose one book for at home reading and the other will be for my commute/lunchbreaks at work. Or I will read 5 chapters of one and then read 5 chapters of the other and so forth. It works for me 😀

      3. That sounds way better. I was trying to have one e-book for when I don’t want to lug around a physical book everywhere with me. But what it really comes down to, I think, is that I just have too many eggs in too many baskets. So really, I just have to set realistic goals, lol.

      4. Ah, I love Mindy!
I am actually planning out my reading right now to help me set better goals! The objective of which is to help me balance life, the blog, books and my manuscript. I guess we’ll see how much I manage to still pack on though, that’s sort of standard issue me tbh, always trying to figure out a way to add one more thing to my to-do-list. 😛

      5. Glad to meet another obsessive list maker! 😛 My next compulsion is to make it look pretty and I’m restraining myself. My plan is all laid out in a plain word doc now and but it’s plainness is sorta killing me. *shakes head*

      6. 😂 Lol! I’m sure there are plenty of us out there…*looks around, finds two others for support group, then sighs because the search distracts from ability to read and plan more* Ah, well, it’s a start.

      7. I loved Joey’s TTT post the other day bc one of the things he talked about was planning all these posts but never getting around to them bc bigger better ideas come to mind pushing those drafts back. I have at last 5 massive list posts that I have failed to even put together fully, they’re in the vein of 20 books every fantasy lover should read etc, lol. These are the types of things I think of when I should be either (1) reading or (2) writing. More ways to make more lists!!!?! 🙈

  2. I was expecting this post to be about big secrets, lies, deception, etc. bc of the title LOL. I love what you said about blogging success! It should have been about our happiness first more than anything 🙂
