Mid Year Book Freak Out | TAG

Mid-Year-Book-FreakoutHey guys!

Guess who’s behind in the trends again? Oh right, that’s me! So I know we’re already passed this point in the year, but I thought who cares! There have been so many great reads so far that I thought I would let you guys know what they were. So sit back and relax because here we go!

1. Best book you’ve read so far in 2015

Simon Vs. The Homo Sapiens AgendaSimon Vs. The Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli has been the best book I’ve read so far. I have never been so eager and excited to read a story like I was before I picked this guy up. I connected with Simon a lot and I couldn’t wait to see what happened to him next. From the beginning to the middle to the end I absolutely enjoyed every page!

2. Best sequel you’ve read so far in 2015

CressCress by Marissa Meyer has been the best sequel I have read so far this year. The Lunar Chronicles has been a bit on the shaky side for me. It started out pretty rough with the first book, it got better in the second, and then the third (Cress), just blew me away! I had so much fun reading it. It was very exciting and action packed with character developments, back stories, adventures and more!

3. New release you haven’t read yet, but want to

An Ember in the AshesAn Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir. This book has been hyped up so much that it kind of scares me to even read it. It started out as a stand alone but the success has launched it into a trilogy I believe. So I’m not in a big rush to read it now, but I know I will eventually get it probably this year or the beginning of 2016!

4. Most anticipated release for the second half of the year

Frozen TidesFrozen Tides by Morgan Rhodes. The Falling Kingdoms series is hands down my favorite of all time. It has everything I want in a story and more. So of course the fourth book in the series is the one I’m most anticipating for in the second half of the year. I’m dying to get my hands on a copy and fly back into the world of Mytica!

5. Biggest disappointment

Althea & OliverAlthea and Oliver by Christina Moracho has been the biggest disappointment of the year so far. I was looking forward to this book for a very long time. When I finally got to read it, I hated almost every minute of it. The way the story turned was a huge disappointment and I have never been let down so hard by a book in my life.

6. Biggest surprise

Red QueenRed Queen by Victoria Aveyard. I was looking forward to this book for a long time. It began getting so much hype and all the booktubers and book bloggers I like, trust and follow were hating it. Whether they were hating the story itself or the way the author presented herself on social media, I was getting a bad taste in my mouth. But never the less I like to form my own opinions on books and decided to read it months after its release and I quite enjoyed it! Going in with super low expectations and I left the book with the biggest surprise!

7. Favorite new author – debut or new to you

The Last SeekerFleur Camacho, the indie author of the TRISTEN fantasy series has become my new favorite author. I read her debut novel at the beginning of the year and I quite enjoyed it. We have stayed in contact since then and she graciously asks for my opinion on book covers and future plot lines. I’m absolutely grateful for her advice and friendship since then! You guys need to seriously go check out her book!

8. Newest fictional crush

A Court of Thorns and RosesTamlin from A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas. Who doesn’t fall in love with the Beast? Tamlin is rugged, brave, strong, loving, and sexy. He is a great leader and a great lover. He pays great attention to detail and is always there for Feyre when he’s not being held captive by the evil bitch Amarantha.

9. Newest favorite character

Saga Vol. 1Marko from the Saga graphic novel series! Ever since reading the first volume I have been obsessed with Marko. He is so cute and lovable towards Alana and Hazel, but when there is danger to his family, he is ruthless and will do anything to protect them. Very honorable in my books!

10. Book that made you cry

The Fault in Our StarsSo I reread The Fault in Our Stars by John Green after 3 years and it still had me balling my eyes out. Even though I knew what was coming, the water works just wouldn’t stop. I hate crying, so I love hate the books that make me do it! I’m not a pretty cryer.

11. Book that made you happy

Harry Potter and the Philosopher's StoneHarry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone by J.K Rowling. Yes I know I late on this. And yes because of the movies I already knew what was going to happen, but it never the less put a smile on my face while reading it. My only regret is not having read the books sooner! I still have a lot to catch up on in the Harry Potter world!

12. Favorite book to film adaptation you saw this year

I would say Paper Towns by John Green, but I still have yet to see the movie. So I’ll just have to leave this one blank for now.

13. Favorite review you’ve written this year

Red RisingRed Rising by Pierce Brown has been my favorite review so far this year! I had a lot of fun reading the book and an even more enjoyable time writing the review for it! If you haven’t checked it out you can do so HERE to find out my I liked it so much!

14. Most beautiful book you’ve bought so far this year (or received)

The Last ChangelingBy beautiful I’m hoping it means the cover? Because if so I would say The Last Changeling by Chelsea Pitcher! Just look at that glorious cover. The colors, the art and the light reflections are just beautiful!

15. What books do you need to read by the end of the year?

More Happy Than Not Fangirl The Heart of Betrayal

More Happy Than Not by Adam Silvera, Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell, The Heart of Betrayal by Mary E. Pearson. All three of these books are burning holes in my TBR and need to be read ASAP!

Thanks for stopping by! Let me know if you’re freaking out about any of these books as well! I can’t wait to see what the rest of the year has in store for me and my blog!

Until next time,

      1. You should read Fairest! It is failey long for a novella, and it is a good background before reading Winter as it explains her background as well as Levana’s. It also has the first couple of chapters of Winter!

  1. I’ve heard so many great things about Simon! This book and Ari & Dante needs to go onto my diversity challenge list. I think you’ll love AEITA! I agree, your Red Rising review is also a fave of mine on this blog as well 😀

  2. Thanks Jesse! 😀 I think you’re pretty awesome too.
Right now I’m reading Red Rising. It’s different than I thought it would be but still good.
I also just read Ember in the Ashes. The book is divided into 3 parts. Part 1 was good, but kinda slow. But once I delved into part 2, I could NOT put the book down. It completely sucked me in. I’m not sure how it was supposed to be a standalone because the story definitely doesn’t end at the end of the book. But it does live up to the hype. Don’t be afraid. ;P
I hadn’t heard anything about Victoria Aveyard (Red Queen), what’s the deal with her?

    1. I hope you’re liking Red Rising so far! I’ll eventually get An Ember in the Ashes. Probably closer to when the second one comes out. And as for Victoria Aveyard, a couple close booktubers I follow on twitter have had issues with the way she presents herself on social media. (ie. braggy, arrogant) I could care less about that though.

  3. I’m right with you when it comes to being late on the trends! 😁 I still haven’t even read the Harry Potter series!
And my goodness, Frozen Tides! The cover has me falling in love. If I had to marry a book with a beautiful cover, it would be Frozen Tides. I NEED TO READ THE FALLING KINDGOMS SERIES.
Fangirl is amazing! I hope you get to reading it soon! And I really want to read More Happy Than Not along with Red Rising!
The Fault In Our Stars also currently holds the record for the book that made me hysterically cry to the point of being an extremely ugly cry!

  4. I need to read Simon asap. Everybody who has read it has been raving about it, and it looks like something right up my alley! Also, so much yes to what you wrote about Tamlin. Praise SJM for conjuring up this sexy beast of a character. Pun intended.

      1. LOL, see I hated the book. I still quite like SJM’s other books and her writing. xD I think I’m willing to give her a second chance as long as she doesn’t ruin Feyre and Tamlin for me like she did with Chaol and Celaena, bahah. xD

      2. I don’t know about that. At this point I’m sure Feyre could end up with anyone… even with that creepy eyeball thing!

Are you going to continue with Throne of Glass though? 😛
