I want to start out by thanking Aentee from Read at Midnight for nominating me for this award! I was legitimately surprised and equally as honored. She is honestly the best, so go check her out!
Here are the rules:
- Select 15 other blogs you want to give the award to.
- Write a post to show off your award! Give a brief story of how your blog got started, and give a piece or two of advice to new bloggers.
- Provide a link to the original post on Edge of Night. That way, anyone can find the original guidelines and post if needed, and we can keep it from mutating and becoming confusing!
I’m pretty much a baby to the world of book blogging or blogging in general. At the end of 2014, I was thinking to myself that I needed to find a hobby and an outlet to express my love for books and the Young Adult genre in particular. I am an avid watcher of Booktube and thought that would be the perfect platform to start with. Boy was I ever wrong. I was horrible at it. I am never satisfied with average and mediocre so I immediately scrapped Booktube and in turn went for blogging instead.
I originally chose Blogspot as the domain to put forth my blog. I used it for 6 months or so and was having so much difficulties with it. I could never get it to look the way I wanted, I had a blog name that I didn’t quite think through, and the editing options were extremely limited. So that brings us to my new baby Books at Dawn here on wordpress. After one month I am extremely happy with my blog and the community of book bloggers here on wordpress!
I have so many things to keep working on but it’s all apart of a learning process. So hopefully you guys don’t mind my ever changing blog templates and graphics, the constant memes, and spelling errors. I’m trying my best so I hope you guys can stick with me until the end!
I follow some amazing blog writers here and I am forever doubting my writing talent and content. I know it sounds silly, but I guess that just makes me human. I keep telling myself that I will get better with time and experience. So that is my advice to you. If you’re not so confidant in your writing like me, don’t give up! Keep perfecting the craft and you will see that over time your reviews and such become more professional sounding.
If I were to scrounge up my first ever review from back in January I would be so embarrassed. Since then I picked up some tips and tricks to further better my future reviews. Just keep learning and practicing and you will start to see the differences.
No one gets a million follows after one day or one post. A lot of us bloggers work really hard to achieve our following. So my advice to you is not give up! Keep working at producing great reviews, memes, and other interesting topics to get readers to keep coming back. Believe me, you will begin to start seeing the improvement!
Even I’m still waiting and working hard to achieve that level. When I receive my first ever ARC from a publisher is the day I think I might cry. Happy tears of course!
This is supposed to be a fun hobby that we share with many others! So keep it that way. Don’t over exude yourself with stress and the lot. Once you begin to start treating blogging as a job then you lose the fun. My advice to you is to take breaks once and a while if you start getting burnt out. Take a back seat and brainstorm new and exciting things to bring to your blog and always just make sure that you’re having fun doing it!
(If you’ve already done this post then disregard, but just know that I’m thinking you deserve some recognition!)

Great tips! It’s so important to just be patient and avoid treating the blog like a part time job. At the end of the day I want to blog because I read, not read because I blog – if that makes sense XD!! I like your graphics in this post too!

Awwwww, thanks so much for nominating me, Jesse! That’s honestly so sweet of you. It’s an honour to be recognized by a talented reviewer such as yourself!
I love that you write reviews to better your writing. I’m the same! I was so scared of losing my writing capabilities after finishing university, and I found that reviewing was both creative, critical, and a great writing outlet. So we share that goal! And I think that’s awesome.
Thank you again for nominating me. c: I’ll post this… soon! I am in the process of revamping my blog, so I’ve put all tags on hold. But jut know that I haven’t forgotten this! c:

I was like, “Whuuut. Why is my name on this post? If anyone’s a noob on the blogosphere, it’s me.”
Thanks for the nomination, Jesse.
(Do I even deserve this?) You have no idea how much this means to me. And to be honest, I adore your blog. This literally just made my day. I’m pretty much repeating the words “Senpai noticed me!” over and over again. Thank you, thank you, thank you ♡

Thank you for the mention! It means a lot to someone like me who just started their blog two months ago! Your blog posts are always ones I look forward to reading and I think you articulate your opinions extremely well and confidently. I also think you have fantastic taste in literature and often look at your blogs for recommendations to what I should read next. 🙂

Oh the dreams of BookTube! I know these feels very well. I wanted to start something off on that platform but it never materialized. If you brought back those old videos, I’d totally have a go at watching them! (Despite the fact that I don’t typically watch booktube to begin with.)
How you write one month from now isn’t what you’ll be doing a year from now; especially with writing reviews. But it’s so cool to look back at what you’ve written and seeing not only the material difference in vocabulary change but also the overall structure of how you’ve grown to be more skeptical and careful to how you go about a book!
Otherwise, thanks for the nomination.
Cheers,
